Achieving realism in video games is always the ultimate task. Well, not so much -- how much realism is there in slaying Warcraft ogres or obliterating alien zombies (although, when the human race is called upon one day to fight these nasties, we'll be ready).

Sports games, however, are the logical choice for pulling ever closer to the realism factor. But, the greatest sports video games are not always that -- and frankly, they don't have to be.

The market is literally saturated with sports titles that range from the ultra-realistic to the incredibly impossible. When shove comes to tackle, some sports video games just rank higher than others on the legendary scale. Stupid, Punchout, Tony Hawk, and SSX should not even be considered sports game. Also NFL 2k1? Seriously, I think anyone with half a brain will tell you 2k5 was better.

Personally, I liked 2k1 on Dreamcast better(other than the highlight show). IDK, Maybe I have less than half a brain or something but, I just played it a lot more than I played 2k5.

In terms of fun factor, yes. That game was much bigger in it's time then The Show was, especially to the average person.

Now I don't agree with it being on a top sports game list, but the list in general is terrible so I'm not going to waste my time complaining about it.

Maybe if you only had a PS2 and not an Xbox, I can see where you would come up with that. But for Xbox, ESPN NFL 2K5 was as legit as they come. That and MLB 09: The Show are my favorite sports games ever, but I think 2K5 still wins it out by a bit, knowing how much better The Show 2010 can be.

Yeah, i never said that 2k5 was a bad game. I said that I just enjoyed 2k1 on the Dreamcast more. The Show should definitely be higher on the list, if not #1.

And no love for NBA2K or NBA Live is kind of weird to me too
