But in that windowed view, can games be played at a good FPS? I just don't want to play in a window, if it's a frame show.

What games? Anything more than a text sim will drag under virtualization unless you've got one hell of a beefy machine, at least in my experience.

NBA 2K10 failed on my new MBP. Like Giggas said, text-sims are your only bet for gaming on the Mac.

I'd definitely go Boot Camp for gaming.

Money, that might be the one most single overlooked aspect to the Mac machines. I absolutely love that I can power up and be working in minimal time. We have a laptop that runs XP and I usually leave it in sleep mode so I can just open it up and go because it takes forever in comparison to the Mac from power up to work mode...and that's compared to a Mac Pro!

I could agree with that. I think booting completely into Windows could help you in terms of gaming. You shouldn't have much to worry about with one of the virtualization methods, but booting completely into Windows, in theory, would seem to be more stable.

What I like about the Macs is they boot up fast and they shut down fast. Faster than Windows 7!

Question for you Mac lovers. Is there any free programs that make copies of data DVD's?

Can you not just use Disk Utility?

                      I hear ya!
It used to be that when I woke up before work I'd go downstairs and turn my PC on. Then I'd take a shower, get my breakfast started and then come back and start checking the scores.

With my Macbook Pro, I wake up, turn it on and in 10 seconds I know who's won and lost from the night before. Incredible!

hdaniel1, I'll have to check when I get home. My wife does most of the copying and DVD burning but I'm nearly positive it comes with software to burn DVD's.
In fact, I think all you have to do is put in a DVD and then drag the files you want to copy to the Disc Drive inside using 'Finder' (equivalent to Windows Explorer). I believe it's as easy as that.
                      Not sure though.

                        Hey guys

I just got permission from the wifey to get one for Christmas. This will also be my 1st Mac and I was looking at getting a 13'. My question is whether anyone has bought one off e-bay and experiences with that or should I just pony up and buy one at the apple store.

Also, what's the warranty on macbooks? Without apple care

I would order it from the Apple Store. Just got a 13" Mac Book Pro from there. Was scared to buy anywhere else incase anything every went wrong with it. Not sure about the warranty,

Is "10 seconds" just a figure of speech? My Macbook Pro 2.26ghz 2G ram takes 30 seconds to get to the desktop. That's quick in my opinion, but there's certainly a difference between 10 and 30.

One thing that's really been annoying me is the lack of functionality in Expose. Yeah, four fingers down and we see all open windows as thumbnails, but what good is it if you can't close certain windows without having to OPEN each thumbnail first?

How hard would it be for Apple to place a a tiny X(to close window), ala Windows 7, next to each thumbnail?

One more question - I am deciding between getting an 8MB of RAM with 500 gb hdd 7200 RPM or 750 gb HDD 5200 RPM. Thoughts? I am researching which spec. I would be using for everyday use and some gaming ie The Old Republic, WoW, Football Manager. Thanks for the help guys
