Albums that Rock -minus the singles

So Today I'm surfing the boards and I decided to listen to some music I hadn't heard before. I'm scanning my music library for stuff and come across Madonna's Ray of Light Album so I play it. As I'm listening to the first few tracks I find myself liking most of them minus Ray of light.

A similar thing happened with James Blunt Back to Bedlam; your Beautiful was a disgrace to mucic (as was his All the lost Souls album) but most of the other non-single tracks where pretty cool chillin music.

So What are some albums that are pretty damn good if you ignore the made for radio singles?

I don't even know what the singles are for a lot of albums I buy. I would say all the Beatles albums because, you know, the songs they released as singles weren't featured on the albums.

I think a lot of times I don't like the singles as much as the rest of the CD because they're just overplayed on the radio, not so much that they aren't as good.

That is the thing it takes a good single for you to play the CD. Once you do and you start listening to it you start too like the other songs better. At least I do. I think it is trick too, the other songs are really better, but you hear them so much and you really start getting into them and like the other poster said they don't get over played too. So you keep listening to them.

Take "Your Body Is A Wonderland" off of Room For Squares by John Mayer and you have one of my favorite albums.

Love John, hate that song. And i'm anticipating hating the duet with Taylor Swift on his new CD that's coming out.

I thought we said "rocked". Madonna, James Blunt, and John Mayer hardly "rock" in my opinion. That said, Queens Of The Stone Age, any cd of theirs, rocks, with or without the singles. The Raconteurs are another group where basically their entire discs are worth the listen. Tool as well.

Yeah Rocked was definitely not the right word for those examples but "Songs that chilled minus the singles" didn't sound as catchy.

I remember not being too into Incubus until I heard their non-radio songs and then later appreciating their singles as well. Although Anna Molly definitely rocks.

Older Coldplay albums, Radiohead albums, killers. More of the mellow, less poppy songs are usually the ones that tend to stick with me.

Radiohead's "The Bends", "OK Computer", "Kid A", and "Rainbows" are all top notch. As are "Parachutes" and " A Rush Of Blood To The Head" from ColdPlay. I own The Killers "Hot Fuss" and think it's solid, but not sure on how much I really want to own any of their other material. Do you listen to Muse as well? They remind me of a combination of those three groups.

Even without the main singles Today and Disarm, Smashing Pumpkins' Siamese Dream rocks.

Yah, Muse is sick. I dont really like rock music as much as Indie rock, and Muse is as hardcore rock as I'll listen to nowadays, but man they're good.

The Bends is an awesome Album.

Another Album that fits this is "Blood, Sugar, Sex, Magic" by RHCP some good non-single tracks on that one I love "I could of Lied"

This band from a couple years back- they were called "American Minor". Every song on that CD is a good tune. I still listen to it today. I dont think many people even heard of this rock band.

I think they had one hit single called "Buffalo Creek"
