    Muhammad and Larry

Anyone going to be watching the ESPN "30 for 30" airing of Muhammad and Larry?

Great documentary and a good look at two close friends and an interesting title fight. I have seen it before, but its been years and I'm excited to catch it again.

Ali is just one of those sports icons that I find fascinating. So I'll have my popcorn ready tonight. In between watching the basketball games tonight.

I set it to record yesterday.
I remember the buildup to the fight. Hard to believe that Holmes was only favored by the slightest of margins. I think the Liston and Foreman fights had many skeptical of betting against Muhammad.

After watching the first couple 30 for 30 documentaries, not only will I be watching this one, I'll be watching all 30 of them. I love this idea by espn, it's like behind the music except with something that interests me a lot more.

If this one is half as good as the USFL one, which I found fascinating being as how I wasn't around when it was, then i'll be totally satisfied.

          Loving the 30 for 30.

The USFL one was awesome. I'm sure that this one will be even better.

Yeah it was. I also loved the one about the Colts marching band, being from Baltimore. All four of these films so far have been great, and I'll definitely be watching the rest of them.

This was very sad to watch. What made me even sadder than watching an old man get beaten, was the fact that he had such a commanding personality and you could tell that his speech was slowing a little bit in the film. Had parkinson's not crippled his post-boxing life, he would have been everything people want Jordan to be right now.

Same here. I have them set to record each week. I don't know how many they have shown already, but I saw the Wayne Gretzsky and USFL ones. Anyone know which other episodes they have shown?

EDIT: I saw the Marching Band one as well.

Looks like I've seen them all. The ones schedule in the future sound great as well. It seems like on December 12th, the one titled "The U" is the last new one until March, when they have Reggie Miller vs. The Knicks.

                          Here's the schedule

Yea it left me with an empty feeling in my stomach, And Holmes saying he was better then Ali is ridiculous, although I respect him for not knocking out Ali, which he could have easily done.

Not really-he was trying to get the ref to stop the fight, but he was also trying to get Ali out of there early and he couldn't. One Holmes comment that was left out of the film was his observation of Ali's weight loss, and I paraphrase, "Yeah, he lost some weight, but he looks flabby".
If Marciano beat a shell of a 38 year old Joe Louis then Holmes beat the shell of a shell of Muhammad Ali. For Holmes to claim any iota of accomplishment for this travesty is absurd. His smallness is well demonstrated at the end of the film, when he gets into his famous self worship, and in so many words says he was better than Ali. Great film. I missed the others.
