I wasn't made aware of any business plan being necessary. I think it's just your usual 30 dollar data plan.

Starting to snoop around the android market. I LOVE that if you don't like the app you download, you can uninstall it and get refunded your money.

I know most apps are only a dollar or two, but when I had my iPhone I know I wasted at least 30 bucks on apps that sucked shortly after downloading them.

this is what drives me crazy about the iPhone fanboys (although the only ones i know who act like it's the jesus phone are females) they always fall back on the whole "the iphone app store is the best thing in the world and has 30 bazillion apps" when they have no idea what is available in the android market, not to mention i'm sure a huge portion of those 30 bazillion apps are bull**** nobody really wants.
EDIT: also, i think it's hilarious that android has a FREE Adobe Photoshop app, and iPhone doesn't have one at all. sure they both have apps that do basically the same thing, but i love the irony of something PHOTOSHOP not being on an apple product.

Loving this phone so far. The only minor quibble I have is the back, home, etc buttons are a little unresponsive.

One thing that surprised me is I actually enjoy using the virtual keyboard more than the physical. The physical keys are just a little too small for my thumbs and the ability to automatically finish words in the virtual keyboard puts it over the top.

As far as apps so far I'm using:

- Google voice
- AK Notepad
- Cardio trainer
- Photoshop
- Google Places Directory
- The Weather Channel
- Wikidroid

Just went looking around for phone deals. Found the Verizon Droid Eris by HTC. Retails for $199 - $99 after MIR and found Wirefly.com. For new or existing VZW customers who sign up for a 2 year contract or extension the phone is $29.99 per, with your choice of regular calling plans or family choice.

Since I renewed I kept same plan and features. If I purchased through vzw website with my new every two discount would have been $99 per line for this phone.

I also got two 2 GB memory cards using discount code WIREFLYMEMCARD7

Once the phone is received you go to Verizonwirelessrebates.com and submit order date and upc code for $100 rebate card per phone. So in all got two new wifi capable phones with 5 mp camera up 16 gb storage and all while getting $180 back in cash and free memory.

Wirefly has a ton of phones from all carriers on the site as well. So f you were planning on upgrading you might want to take a look.

The Motorola Droid for VZW is also heavily discounted to $149 and you can still get the $100 MIR to bring it down to $50.

I don't really get the appeal or "deal" of the Eris over the Droid though. You still need the $30 data plan for both, and they're only a $100 difference in price on a 2 year contract. My bill would be the same for both as well.

I don't know either but I do know our senior engineer here said he liked the HTC much better...

I was at verizon today looking for cases for my droid and did some playing around with the Eris while there, it seemed like a solid phone.

If the screen resolution wasn't superior I prob would have considered just getting that. One thing I don't like about it though is the trackball. I've never really had good luck with those things...

As far as the photoshop thing, I'm pretty sure a friend told me adobe released a photoshop app on the iPhone for 10 bucks or so. Maybe less, but I def remember hearing it.

Just got the Eris from Wirefly great little phone. The price difference is $100 but still the same $100 mail in rebate. I got the HTC because apparently the Moto Droid uses droid 2.0 Eris had version 1.5 which is more stable and has more application available for it.

One main difference is the ability to use google's gps. I went with the Eris because the HTC seemed like a better device, speedier and more intuitive and more customizable. But this may change with the patch due for both in December. Its still a droid and boasts several of the same features but I moved away from Motorola for the first time in 12 years.

How far are you into your contract? Check out wirefly.com and see if you can renew your contract and get the discounted rate.

I planned on switching to ATT or Tmobile once my contract was up but decided now with this device I will stay with Verizon.

Verizon reps are here at the job today and they happened to have this phone along with the Storm with the firmware upgrade.

I would definitely get this phone if I were on the fence. VERY nice

Alright last update unless problems arise. I have had the Droid Eris now for two days and still getting the hang of it but found about 30 apps I have found interesting and free. I was happy to find out all my created ringtones from my old unlocked Motorola Razr Maxx VE were simply transferred without any hacking of this phone. The phone simply connects to your PC via USB cable and the home screen has a tab to mount the phone as a drive, it shows up like an external hard drive.

I went in labeled three folders:

1. Media, inside media made four more folders: ringtones, notifications, music and alarms
2. Videos self explanatory
3. Photos self explanatory

This in itself is a major draw and a reason why was willing to drop Verizon for another carrier. Now that I don't have to worry or work to get a phone to be how I want it I am even more happy with the purchase. I have'nt tried working with any ms office documents just yet but it does have a pdf viewer that works well.

Battery life could be better but I think it drained over night because I left wifi enabled running and it kept trying to download three apps as i slept.

Now after transferring my music I'm and trying to figure out how to get album pictures to show.

Ok, having an issue with my droid. When I played with the demo at the store, I went to ESPN.com and it pulled up like the actual site, but now when I try from my droid, it takes me to the espn mobile site.

Help.
