    Best GPS?

I wanna a pretty cheap but good GPS for my car, but my friend keeps telling me to make sure I don't get a ****ty one. What makes a GPS better than another? I mean, aren't they all relatively the same?

For those of you who know what's best, help a brotha out.

As WDO said, read up on cnet on the reviews. You want a GPS that speaks street names probably and also want one where you will get recent maps or an update for relatively cheap (or free). If you go real super cheap you may end up with a GPS with maps from 5 years ago and you don't want that.

I have a nuvi Garmin GPS and highly recommend Garmin models myself.

I have a Garmin nuvi as well. Love it. My gf borrowed it and didn't want to give it back.

Target will have a Tom Tom that has text-to-speech for $97 on black friday...normally $250

Uh dude, can't compare Tom Tom to Garmin IMO...Garmin is by far the better of the two from all the research I did and all the models I looked at. In fact it wasn't even close..

They all the same really. Only some, the models above $170 say the street name as well as turn left or right. And some have canada map as well. Other then that, they all the same.

I just use the gps on my cell phone LOL. Does the exact same thing.

If you stick with one of the big three: Garmin, Magellan, Tom Tom you should be fine. I wouldn't buy one that didn't have text to speech for the street names though

They're not all the same, just go look at some of the new models. Appearance and feature wise the Garmins are usually far superior.

That's a great choice, I have the 880 and the 780 is basically the same without a few features.

I really like my Garmin Nuvi 780. Owned an older model before this one and liked it as well.
