Yep, doesn't make much sense. I guess Google is just going to update the Google phone and nothing else.

My guess is we'll get 2.1 for Droid eventually just has to go through Motorola's screening process. You gotta think they'll give the upgrade though, the Droid's their top level Android phone.

I am a proud new member of the Droid family. It's an awesome, awesome phone.

Can't wait until the Flash upgrade gets here.

I'm pretty sure Google is just waiting till the N1 sales die down a little bit. It wouldn't be fair to TMobile or the N1 if the Droid and Eris gets the same capabilities a "newer" phone has. It might drop sales even more, especially with all the bad publicity the N1 has gotten.

I really think they originally wanted to release 2.1 to the Droid a few days ago, but because of the bad sales that the N1 received, they held off on it in hopes that this recent upgrade can increase sales.

Don't worry Fish, we'll get the update soon enough. Maybe they're even waiting for the Flash upgrade first before they release the 2.1 update. Either way, I really believe we'll get both.

I'm pretty sure Google is just waiting till the N1 sales die down a little bit. It wouldn't be fair to TMobile or the N1 if the Droid and Eris gets the same capabilities a "newer" phone has. It might drop sales even more, especially with all the bad publicity the N1 has gotten.

Just kinda sucks that Google is screwing over other phones because theirs is not selling. It's the favoritism issue people thought might come when the OS developer also has its own phone.

I don't think they're really screwing us over.. yet. From what I've heard from people that have rooted their droid and upgraded to 2.1, there are a lot of apps that FC on them. Maybe this delay is just Motorola working out the kinks and making sure it's fully compatible on the Droid. Which if it is the case, then I'll be more than happy to wait for a fully stable OS.

Don't worry Droid & Cliq owners, you're not going to be left in the dark. Motorola also announced that they'll be bringing both the Motorola Droid & Motorola Cliq to Android 2.1.

But the news doesn't stop there for Droid owners. Not only will they receive Android 2.1 but Motorola has been working on Flash 10.1 integration and has optimized it for the Droid chipset, which means yes, your Droid will soon have official Flash support. On top of that, the Droid should get a second maintenance update in the near future.

I hope so...it's just a valid concern that Google will favor their phones with Android over other ones...I doubt that will happen, but we'll see.

It's very valid. But remember, the Droid was pretty much the first "Google" phone created, even if it was by Motorola. And judging by Google's track history, I doubt they will let anything that has their name on them become stale and unreliable.

It will come, just not soon enough. and if anything, I bet TMobile is the reason why 2.1 hasn't hit the Droid yet.

Sounds like it will include a multitouch browser but still no flash.

I don't think flash will be rolled out to mobile devices until late spring/early summer.

I have mine rooted and a custom Sholes ROM installed, overclocked to 800mhz, runs like butter. I don't really care for the 2.1 update.
