    Zune HD vs. iPod touch

So has anyone used or owned both? Trying to make a decision.

On one hand, I really like how you can load the iPod with apps, big plus for me as I am a really bored person. Is the Touch just an iphone without cell service?

On the other. Being able to load HD video onto the zune and play it back on my TV or just on the player is real nice. I like the interface of it too.

Anyone else have any suggestions on what to get? How easy is it to load music onto either? I won't be using neither the zune marketplace or itunes as I just put stuff from my CDs onto it.

The touch pretty much is the phone without the service.

You can put videos on the touch too. You play them off the TV as well but you need some kind of adapter that is around $50.

I can't tell you whether or not to get a Zune as I've never had one or used one but I can tell you the touch is amazing. Well worth the money but just be sure to get one of the bigger sizes if you do get it and you want to load it up with a bunch of videos/songs/apps. I only have an 8 gig and it's almost right at the max with both seasons of Chappelle's Show, 700 songs and some apps.

I like my ZuneHD. I usually only play music on it, but I play games every once and a while. The software is good and even without the marketplace, it has a bunch of options that still work.

I got the touch and love it. I should have got the 32g though. I may go ahead and get it and give the 16 the the Misses.

So easy to use, sync up to different apps and such. I am not "computer guy" and I can figure out how to link up most of my various accounts to it.

I don't really use the video option much. I have several movies and some old football games I can put on it, but mostly they just eat up storage space so I rarely put 'em on.

I've had the 16gb, 32gb, and now the 64gb iPod touch (gotta love Sam's generous return policy). Never played with a Zune but I love my Touch! I use it everyday.

had a zune HD 16gb and it was sold as quick as I bought it. Don't like it at all.

Re: Zune HD vs. iPod touch

It really depends on your usage. If apps are a big thing for you (they aren't for me), then you will be happy with a touch and dissapointed in a zune. (there are games and such for the zune, but not even close to as many)

But IMO if you plan to use it mainly for music and video I'd say the zuneHD has the edge there. I use it for some videos and mainly music so the HD makes more sense for me. The HD radio is also nice and although it sucks, it does have a very basic internet browser.

As for how easy, I know on the zune it's really easy to load music. You just right click on an album, artist, song, etc. and choose sync, that's it. (and I believe you can burn the songs from a CD within the zune - could be wrong though)

It's a tough decision though, it took me a while. I'd say if apps and the internet will be your main use I would go with the touch and for videos/music the zune HD.

You can burn videos, music whatever directly from the zune software. Also, if you have a wireless setup in your house you can sync your zune wirelessly.
Personally, i hate the ipod and its software.

I'm not in the market anymore, but I played with my friends Touch and that is what I would choose. I love the apps though. A lot of very convenient things to choose from.

Like someone else said, if you only care about audio and video go Zune HD and get the HDMI adapter for you TV.

More apps, better interface = iPod all the way imo.

I would primarily use it at work. The only app I'm concerned with is Facebook and I think they both have that though I believe. I'm leaning toward the 8GB touch but I like the fact that the HD is 16GB for less $. Wal-Mart has the 16GB Zune HD right now for 165 and the 8GB Touch for 175.

Geez, I still have no clue. LOL

IMO that 8 gigs will come in handy. I suppose it all depends on what you have and what you will use it for exactly, but I wish sometimes I had a 32 GB instead of 16 GB HD, I wouldn't want to go any lower than 16 myself.

Now if you don't mind paying the difference for a 16 GB touch it would be tougher to say, but I think those extra 8 GB will come in handy especially if the only app you care about is facebook.

What the picture quality like from either to an HDTV? Going from something that small to a 32"-50" HDTV has gotta lose picture quality.

Especially considering it takes almost 2 GBs to have a decent 720p conversion of a typical 90 minute movie.
