    BALLAST

Watched this on netflix and loved it!

It's definitely not for everyone. It's a slow movie that mainly revolves around three characters in the Mississippi Delta. I want to explain more about the plot but can't without spoiling the film because of the way everything slowly unravels and develops.

I'll say this - the overall feel and look of it is akin to The Wire with the usage of the handheld camera and no soundtrack or score. It has a very authentic feel to it ...almost to the point where it borders on being a documentary. There's also some great acting from folks you've likely haven't seen anywhere before.

It's pretty deep. Check it out.

I don't see this movie getting much attention here, but, yeah, it was really good. All of the family drama plot events felt genuine and were not at all predictable which is the goal that any drama like this should shoot for.

Yeah, I knew it wouldn't get much reaction here. Just wanted to get some awareness out there. And I agree with your thoughts on the unpredictability of the plot events. It's to the point where I couldn't even describe a simple synopsis of the plot without spoilin the film in some fashion.
