Might be a long shot, but I need help getting a stereo receiver to work with a remote

I got my dads old stereo receiver but he lost the remote a long time ago. I tried to look this up through google but had no luck. If anyone can help it would be much appreciated. The model is Sony STR-K850P.

    Damn expensive, but you know.

If anything, you can always go for the Logitech Harmony universal remote.
    Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60

Thanks Blzer. Do you know if just a regular universal remote would work?

My guess is you have to find the user guide and make sure that it's compatible with your receiver. Only thing is, though it may have the brand, it still may not work with yours (I mean you know how there are sometimes different input codes for the same brand because some don't work). But the great thing with the Harmony is it pretty much does everything. Some say it even does your laundry.

        Good luck!

Thanks again. I will check into the Harmony remote.

I found this while searching. Sound like a good deal as long as it works with everything I have. http://www.blu-link.com/overview.htm

I'd highly recommend a Harmony remote. Plug it up to your computer via USB and simply put in your equipment's model numbers. Doesn't control the PS3 but will control 12 devices vs 6 of that other remote you listed.

Another thing is that it has 1 touch controls. Program it for watching tv and it will turn on the tv and sound system or watch a movie...turns on tv, sound system and DVD player.

This one is $62 shipped (like new w/ warranty)

That's because the remote doesn't have any Bluetooth functionality, but there is an add-on that you can purchase for it.

Yep. No blutooth, but you don't need that expensive add-on. Just need the USB dongle from the Nyko usb remote $8.50 shipped

Wow, really? I didn't know there was an alternative to the Logitech Harmony Adapter. Good to know, thanks.

Yeah. Won't turn the PS3 on or off, but everything else is covered.

If the OP only needs to control less than 6 devices and the PS3 is one of them....then go with the remote he posted.

If ever in the future you need to control more than 6 devices or get a stand alone blu ray player....you would be better served getting a harmony.

Harmonys are much easier to program. Can be quirky though on occassion.
