Consumer Reports rates cell phone service in the US

    December 1, 2009 — Dave Winer

I’m lucky I have a Consumer Reports subscription so I can tell you what they found when they rated cell phone service in the US. I’ll give you the bottom line, for the details, buy a subscription.
I have Sprint and have no problems. Have had them for years.

NFL - Dallas Cowboys, MLB - NY Yankees
NBA - Knicks, NHL - NY Rangers,
NCAABB - St. Johns Redmen (Redstorm)

None of this matters until they drive around in a car with something recording all carriers signals. The ratings were done based purely on surveys of readers. You cannot trust this when people use different phones made by different companies. Its all subjective and is useless. How many people think AT&T sucks because they now have an Iphone and have data plans, but never had a data plan on another carrier before? I've had AT&T and Verizon with no problems with either.

It all comes down to your personal experience and the type of phone and options you want.
