Speaking of treehouse of horror episodes....This line is stuck in my head, especially whenever I hear the ice cream truck outside.

(Bell rings and a guy is walking down the street)
Homer: Hey! It's the hammock man! He's a little early today!

Always fun to watch treehouse of horror episodes in October. I just watch 1 a day until Halloween(obviously don't start until October),and the more seasons of Simpsons there are,the earlier I have to start.

Am I going crazy or have I really not seen some of these episodes in a really long time? I swear I'm seeing scenes that my local Fox affiliate hasn't been showing in airings of these episodes in the past. Like for example the teacher strike episode. When all the teachers bail on their students and the one girl is left on the gymnastic rings, every rerun I've seen of that episode over the years it goes to commercial right there but there was a scene or two after that I saw tonight. There's been a few episodes like that.

They're showing the original full versions during this marathon (which is why a lot of them end at like _:29/_:59 or so). Now you generally only see the cut episodes to fit in more commercials which messes up some of the older ones.

The only mistake they made for this was screwing with the aspect ratio which cuts out some of the sight gags.

There's actually a local affiliate here that shows the older episodes a lot here which I enjoy when I catch them. They're currently showing episodes right around seasons 4 and 5.

What gags have been cut? Obviously I can tell they cropped for a 16:9 picture, but I haven't seen anything of note missed out on because of it.

I honestly haven't watched too much of this marathon, so very possible I missed something - I just haven't had a moment where I was watching and noticed something was missed due to the cropping.

            Things like this happen.

            Simpsons Aspect Ratio

            And this scene right here:

Actually had that top portion of the pipe cut out, rendering the joke ineffective.

Loved seeing the Lisa loves Nelson/Homer gets an auto-dialer episode earlier.

Has to be one of my favorite episodes ever.

Sucks for people in USA to have aspect ratio changed leading to things being cut out. In Canada, they leave it at the regular 4:3 format so nothing ever gets cut out. Which makes me wonder if after the simpsons ever does end, if the producers might just milk the show and come out with a new "remastered" version of all the past non HD episodes, basically redoing the entire series like that. Maybe start with treehouse of horror/christmas episodes just to see what people think, and if it works, they'd continue the rest.

So damn jealous of all of you that get to watch this. As far as I know they're not doing the marathon in Canada. I'm on vacation too so this would have been the perfect time for me.

They don't do marathon, but Simpsons airs on multiple channels every single day in Canada.

It's not the same. They're being played in order, a lot of the reruns are more current episodes, and like Tracer said, these are the full original versions.

I love it when they make fun of Krusty's illiteracy, my favorite gag is the "Tonight I'm going to suck.." gag from Treehouse of Horror IX.
