I think the last episode will break all viewership records.

As for the show...eh, not a big fan of The Simpsons anyway. More room for Seth.

Very Sad, my favorite tv show of all time easily. It sucks it had to go. Imo Golden Years ended when the voice actor for Troy Mcclure died

I haven't watched it since 1995......Give it 20 years or so and it will probably be back. Hell Beavis and Butthead is back now.

LOL because the cleveland show and american dad have done so well. Even Family guy has the same ratings as the simpsons but they are cheaper and hit the 18-49 a little better. I think fox just keeps them around to rip them into syndication. I never got why family guy is nationally syndicated on 3 networks and the simpsons is only syndicated on 1 network.

Maybe because Family Guy is funnier then The Simpsons ? <!-- / message -->

time for it to die, but hopefully they do movies every now and then. The first 8 or so seasons are also still some of the best tv ever made.

Blasphemy. Even now I'd rather watch the Simpsons than Family Guy. It's the same joke every show.

@untrugby I think it has to do with how much they charge for syndication. Family Guy/McFarlane probably charge less than The Simpsons/Groening to be put into syndication.

I haven't watched The Simpsons in almost 10 years so I'm indifferent to it ending. I tried watching last Sunday's Family Guy , Cleveland Show , and American Dad on DVR the other night and couldn't make it past the first 10 minutes of each.

If it were up to me the whole 2 hour block would be removed. All of those shows have been stale for a long time now.

Family Guy and the other two Seth shows are terrible.

Watched the Simpsons season premiere and it wasn't too bad but not captivating or anything. **sigh**

I stopped watching regularly around 2001 or so. Man, everything up to that point was so, so good.

American Dad is actually pretty good. Funnily enough, Seth McFarlane has little creative control of that show other than lending his voice to the characters.

Did you watch last week's Simpsons with Superintendent Chalmers getting Bart and the bullies interested in Teddy Roosevelt? It was actually a pretty charming and at times funny episode.

Personally, I wish Fox would just undo it's mistake, and clear Sunday's for 24.

It's because the old syndication deal FOX made for The Simpsons is horrible. It came at a time when syndication deals weren't anywhere close to what they are today.

In actuality, FOX makes less money from The Simpsons on syndication despite the disparity between it and Family Guy being syndicated on three networks.

Also, a huge truth that FOX won't tell anyone is that by canceling The Simpsons, FOX stands to make more money. They'll be able to cut their current syndication deal (which again is horrible) and negotiate a few new ones that would make The Simpsons really profitable forever (23 seasons of material can last forever, I think).

So, FOX can say what they want about costs, but it's BS. What it is is they want to make more money and new seasons won't make as much as syndicated seasons will.

This is why the actors are asking for residuals on the profits. They know that their salaries (even if cut to basically nothing) don't compare to how much they'd make if FOX would give them a percentage of profits. The Simpsons is going to be making FOX money for a very very long time.

The new syndications seem insane. big bang theory just went into syndication and it's probably on about 12 hours a day over all the different channels it's on
