Would an iPod touch 8gig be a good gift for a 13 year old girl? My niece is who i'm thinking about getting one for. My only fear is maybe she'll lose it, although she's not lost anything like that that I know of..
Well I've been thinking of getting one and I thought I could get this for her, check it out, load some of the bands she asked for in her Christmas list, then play with it for a few days before I give it to her. Then it's win-win, she gets a great Christmas gift and I get a trial run with it.
If I get one for myself I'm going to probably get the 32gig or the 64gig one as I want to get a lot of room for video (since I already have a 16gig iPod and the thing is always full it seems).
btw - how well does the internet work on yours? is it pretty easy to surf on it?
YEs, just need a wifi connection. There is a program on itunes that is a wifi finder and has places all over the world that have wifi's when your out and about. I use mine alot for podcasts. I like listening to the Dan Patrick show, Mike and Mike and the Espn Football once.
Its easy to use, i have a credit card in itunes. so whenver i want something i just buy it instantly. I dont buy many things. One thing i do like is that it has MLB extra innings on it. When i am at a friends house and they have internet (most done now days) i can watch me baseball on the darned thing if i get bored lol
I got a touch for my 3 year old and he loves it. A lot of educational apps plus he's so into the beatles right now. I had to buy him some headphones but overall worth it. Plus he doesn't mess with my iPhone anymore.
I got a touch for my Bday this summer. I love it. Your neice would proably think of you as the greatest uncle ever. You alos may want to give her a $25 or $50 gift card too, so she can start DLing music, app, Tv shows or whatever.
that's a great idea about the gift card n51_rob, i hadn't thought of that. she gave me a couple of bands she wanted cds for so i thought i'd charge it up, go onto the itunes store and get some albums or videos of those bands. but that gift card is a great idea too so she can just get whatever she wants.
I'd say, then, if you have the ability to buy her that and a $50 gift card to download songs/movies and such as suggested above...you really should do it. The Holiday season is all about making people happy and it sounds like this would make her incredibly happy.
You may want to talk to her mother, though, just to make sure she doesn't get offended or anything.
Gives you so many more options (WiFi, web browsing, apps/games, etc), can't really imagine buying a old school style iPod unless I needed some massive storage size.
I just got a Droid, but still love my iPod touch, and I don't really want my phone to be my main music player anyways.
