The Black Crowes - Before The Frost...

Probably the best album I've heard the past two years.

        The rest of the list:

        2) The Dead Weather - Horehound
        3) Dan Auerbach - Keep It Hid
        4) Brother Ali - Us
        5) Ryan Bingham - Roadhouse Sun
        6) Vetiver - Tight Knit
        7) The Avett Brothers - I and Love and You
        8) Ha Ha Tonka - Novel Sounds of the Nouveau South
        9) Mos Def - The Ecstatic
        10) Marissa Nadler - Little Hells

Well then, I'm glad I'm comparing Dear Agony to the rest of the albums I've purchased/listened to this year as opposed to comparing them to their past albums in their own discography. I think that a band doesn't need to maintain the same style, or get harder, to be considered better. Sometimes keeping the same formula is a good thing, and there is a good bunch of songs on this album (namely Give Me A Sign and Dear Agony). Say what you want, but it was my favorite album of 2009 all around.

But my top five are actually pretty elite in all, as Backspacer stands at #5 and is very terrific. I also encourage people to give Cavo a listen (this is their debut album). They are more "radio rock" than anything else, but I sometimes have that CD on shuffle in my car for an entire week before changing it out, without skipping a single song to boot.

              John Mayer - Battle Studies
              Jay-Z - The Blueprint 3
              Matt and Kim - Grand
Taking Back Sunday - New Again
Kid Cudi - Man on the Moon

Frankly, it was a pretty mediocre year music wise. Those might be the only new albums I bought this year. And frankly, the first 3 are in a completely separate league than the last two on my list.

Pretty much the only two new albums I gave a **** about in 2009, and The Resistance was mediocre for Muse's standards.

2009 was an alright year for music with me but pretty much all my fav bands are coming out with albums in 2010. My fav of 09 are:

                  1. Eminem Relapse

                  2. Black Eyed Peas E.N.D.

                  cant really remember anymore.
                  MLB: Texas Rangers
                  Soccer: FC Dallas, Fleetwood Town
                  NCAA: SMU, UTA
                  NFL: Dallas Cowboys
                  NHL: Dallas Stars
                  NBA: Dallas Mavericks

HURT - Goodbye To The Machine
Joe Bonamassa - The Ballad of John Henry
AIC - Black Gives Way To Blue
Five Finger Death Punch - War Is The Answer

Those are really all I can think of off the top of my head. John Mayer's new album was full of SUCK. He went more towards the poppy side again leaving the blues behind. I was really disappointed in it.

And just to show I'm not a complete metal ogre, I'll round it out with

                      Norah Jones- The Fall
                      Madeleine Peyroux- Bare Bones

day n nite is my jam, but man on the moon was a very subpar album. The only good songs were out at least 6 months each before the album dropped (day n nite, make her say and sky might fall).

The asher roth album is 10x better than man on the moon.

Only ones I can think of really that I've really listened to. I don't want to put an album up here that I've only heard fully once or twice. I don't understand the love for Breaking Benjamin, but if that's what you are into....
