Sound bar?

Ok experts. I am getting this sound bar most likely tomorrow. http://reviews.cnet.com/home-theater....html?tag=rnav

My question is how do I hook it up to the cable box, 360 and PS3? All 3 have HDMI slots.
It sounds like I hook the HDMI from each one into the sub woof? But my question then what? It sounds like I then run a HDMI cable to the TV from the Sub Woof? But then if I do that and put that HDMI cable in one of the HDMI slots. How do I use the PS3 and 360? Right now I have all three things in their own HDMI slot, so I have no idea how all this works. Thanks.

Run them into the HDMI in...the one from TV to HDMI out (The sub has 3 ins and 1 out)

That's it. 4 HDMI cables is all you need.

So when I want to use the PS3 or 360 what do I do? Because wont it all come from one source now?

I'm assuming the sub remote lets you select which input it's going to display. basically, instead of having to switch through hdmi 1-3 on your tv, now it'll be hdmi 1-3 on the sub, and your tv will remain on the same the whole time.

make sure to let us know how you like it. I'm gonna be getting some audio equipment in a couple weeks and I'm torn between this and not having to deal with wires, or an actual 5.1 and have to figure out some way to run wires in my horrible, oddly designed apartment living room.

For sure! I think this is a good set up an apartment. I have a house, the room is not real big and I don't feel like setting up a surround sound in this house. My next house I will do that. So the sound bar looks like it is good to go. I try it out at bestbuy and it seem loud enough for me. Anything is better than the TV speakers. The only thing I was worried about was this review for bestbuy.com Because I have Directv, so I was wondering how this would work.

Sony is lacking. Sony told me to take a hdmi cable & hook it up from my directv receiver & hook into the subwoofer. If i did that i'd loose my directv, i called directv, they said NO! use the audio cables, hook in receiver then sub woofer, i did, got sound. The sound was some better than the tv. For the money, no way is this system worth $299 or even $199. Once i got sound the remote did not work the sound, tv or anything else. It even took the code out of my directv remote, once i did that nothing worked. The Sony products are suppose to work each device, WRONG! they didn't work anything. Even the tv remote that came with tv would not work the tv. Again Sony tch spt. is lacking. I have a Sony BR 460 dvd player, i hope it will hook up to my Sony tv better than this sound system. Don't waste your time/money unless you pay to have it installed. Even if you do it's not worth the price, sound is just not that good."

I've had mine for a little over a year in my bedroom and love it; have my cable box, 360, & PS3 all hooked up via hdmi. Primary reason I picked it up was the postive reviews and it was the only sound bar at the time that had multiple hdmi inputs - not sure if anything new has come out since though. The increased sound capability adds so much to playing games and movies. It's not super-loud, but imo loud enough. A complete home theater is still a better option but for those that don't want to go that route this works extremely well. When I was researching last year there weren't a lot receivers that had hdmi switching anywhere near this price range. In fact, don't think there were any near this price range that had hdmi switching. There's a huge avsforum thread on the device; I'll see if I can find the link

I have that one. I will eventually get a real 5.1 or 7.1 but wanted something that sounded better than the TV speakers. It really sounds good when watching a bluray in 7.1 Decent bass too.

I was gonna get the Onkyo 5.1 system GC mentioned in another thread and try to run the wires under the carpet, but I really just don't want to deal with the hassle and end up getting so frustrated figuring out a way to set it up that I end up not actually using it, so it looks like I'm definitely going with this one, or perhaps I'll try to find a used/refurb of the ht-ct500 which I've also heard good things about.

So do you just have one HDMI Cable to the TV now? I like that better. Right now I have 3 HDMI cables and those wires are tough to hide. Now with only have one might look better.

yeah, works fine with DTV. I would get a harmony remote too if you don't have one. Will make your life easier. I have my DTC receiver, xbox 360 and PS3 hooked up to the HDMI on the Sony Sound Bar receiver. Then have one HDMI going from the receiver to my tv. Pretty easy setup. There are some custom settings I have some where that made it sound better.

Yeah I love it. Plus no more popping sound when turning from the HD Signal. This sony is known for that. Now it is no popping at all. Plus that guy that review it for Bestbuy. He had it set to TV on the remote. He had too, because I have no problems at all with the remote. I have it set to sat and have had no problems and because I have a sony Bravia TV, I just turn this remote to TV and then I can do all the TV functions with this speaker remote. So I think I will be OK. The Sound is fine too me. I like how you can choose standard, moive and sports and etc. I am very please right now!

I should have never passed on the Boston open box sound bar I saw at Sears. It was $135. Boxed its $300 something.
