Yeah, I definitely think Pac faked his own death.

He'd be out of hiding for the money too.

Celebrities ego's are too big for anyone to contain. They'd all come out after a while.

He was a pill popping, overweight has-been. Unless he changed his lifestyle I am sure he would be dead by now.

I real guy who disappeared and was a great singer was Fred Neil. Dude went down to Florida and no one ever really heard from him again.

I find it hard to believe that in these days, especially with media and whatnot, someone of the magnitude of Elvis or Tupac could hide away from everybody for decades without being noticed.

There have been numerous sightings though on both fronts (Elvis and 2pac). People just dismiss them as hogwash though. Another argument could be made that with plastic surgery, wigs and weight loss (or gain) Elvis and Pac could look completely different than they did as stars.

Question: Why would Elvis or Tupac fake their deaths AND stay dead? I have yet to hear a good reason for this. For example, I understand they might make more money after they are dead. After a while, however, wouldn't they make more money by all the sudden reappearing?

Well, mind you i'm just playing Devils advocate here, as I said, I think Elvis honestly was just done with being famous and from what i've read his voice was giving out on him anyways. Then there is always the rumor that he was working for the DEA against the vegas mob. And 2Pac's is a similar situation..***mor has it for him that it was done because of his involvement with Suge Knight and that mob activity. So the answer to your question is they may not have a choice but to stay hidden. Or like I said it's always possible, probably likely, that Elvis died a few years after "officially" dying. So if he's really dead then that would explain it.

Just to be clear, I don't really believe either of them did it, I just keep an open mind.

Tax evasion, Insurance fraud, jail time?

I'm assuming there was probably a rather large insurance policy on him.

No one ever claimed Elvis' life insurance from what I read. It was actually one of the things listed on various sites as putting forward the notion of he didn't really die, because to collect on it would be fraud. But who knows the whole story on that issue.
