and although the sound quality is good you get no type of bass with them. Is bass even possible with earphones or would I have to go with big over the ear headphones? Looking for something portable so don't wanna go the headset way though.

Re: Good set of earphones
Bass is hard to come by on ear phones especially the ones that are in ear from my experience. If you want that pounding bass you're probably going to have to go with big headset ones.
Every earphone I've listened to has had some bass but its never anything like headphones. The earphones I have right now are iFrogz Timbre earphones and the bass is there, songs that have a pounding bass definitely standout when compared to ones that dont.
The bass is definitely more apparent w/ these earphones and that's something a lot of my previous earphones have been lacking. Its not pounding like a stereo but I can definitely hear some bass with these. -

Thinking about these too - http://www.amazon.com/Sennheiser-CX3...2134375&sr=1-1
Comes out to only $1 more since it would qualify for the free shipping.
Really surprised there aren't more like what I put in the OP out on the market.Comment

Re: Good set of earphones
Mainly because people for the most part who like earphones are the non bass crowds anyway. Me personally I dont like the feel of earphones and will take headphones over them anyday.
I seen some ipod earphones for $28, no bass at all. I got some headphones with killer bass for $11 at Big Lots, LOL.Comment

Typically it's easier to get treble than bass from any headphone, so that's why low end types tend to lean that way, but it's certainly not hard at all to get a headphone with good bass and, no, you don't have to go with a full sized closed headphone (or spend a lot, as long as you don't want a true IEM). Another problem, the smaller the headphone it makes it that much harder to produce really low end vibration, even the most expensive headphones have problems getting the physical punch from bass.
What type of headphone would you like, earphone (soft sponge or silicone that sits snugly in the outer ear canal), earbuds (hard and flat and sit in the pinna of the ear), clip on (clip around the ears, like what you posted originally), street style (sits on the ears but behind the neck instead of on the top of the head) or a collapsable over the head type?
Also, what music do you listen to?Comment

Something like I linked to in the first post. I mainly listen to country, rock and rap. So a little bit of everything.Comment

Re: Good set of earphones
Not a lot of clip ons out there, so selection is pretty limited.
First things first, get a pair of Koss KSC-75, they are great, cheap (<$20) and may just fit your bill. Koss KSC-35 are a good choice to start with as well, they are a bit more expensive (about $45) and they sound very similar to the KSC-75 but they are less bright and less sibilant. I would probably start with the KSC-75, they are easier to find, much cheaper and the change in sound is one more of refinement than a real upgrade.
The next upgrade (at least IMO) is a pretty big jump in price ($150 Yuin G1A), but I get the feeling you'll be happy with the Koss.Comment

Re: Good set of earphones
I think ear bud type head phones create the illusion of more bass, simply because of the way they plug your ears up. I'm not a big bass guy, but I usually go with an ear bud set because they provide a little more thump than the ones in the OP. Plus, those head phones that clip over back of your ears always end up irritating mine. Now, more than everComment

Re: Good set of earphones
My Skullcandy earphones provide a ton of bass, then again, they set me back $80. But there are def earphones that provide bass.Comment

Re: Good set of earphones
Yeah you can get great bass in earphones, you just need to find a pair that can form a seal with your ear. Best Buy has some cheap "marshmallow" earbuds for like $15 or something that sound great and provide excellent bass. They basically are like a marshmallow in that you squish them down, stick them in your ear, then they slowly spring back up, forming a seal.
The only thing is eventually (like in a year or so) the marshmallow-aspect will not be as springy so you will have to get a new pair. Check them out!Streaming PC & PS5 games, join me most nights after 6:00pm ET on TwitchTV https://www.twitch.tv/shaunh20
