    The Hurt Locker

This is one of the most intense movies I’ve ever seen. The Hurt Locker is about a bomb squad in Iraq. Unlike a lot of other war movies, there are no political overtones here. The movie isn’t pro or anti-war, it’s simply a reminder about the danger that these men face on a daily basis. For the first 45 minutes of the film, my heart rate was up. The directing and cinematography is amazing. The film was shot in Jordan but it looked like Iraq. The performance by Jeremy Renner as SSgt. William James is definitely worthy of an Oscar nomination. I thought the first half of the movie was better than the second half as the set pieces were more intense. Keep your eye out for cameos by Guy Pierce, Ralph Fiennes, David Morse, and Evangeline Lilly.

Definitely a great film and should be the Golden Globe winner for Best Drama later this month.

Is there anyone who doesn't like good movies? I know what you mean but that sounded kinda funny.

I think the director of this movie is the same director of American Psycho. I'm assuming this movie does not have the dark humour style as Psycho. Is this movie more of a straight gritty drama?

It's definitely not dark humor. A gritty drama is a good choice of words.

It's also not the same director. The Hurt Locker was directed by Kathryn Bigelow who is probably more well-known for once being married to James Cameron. Until The Hurt Locker, she never had a critically acclaimed film.

lol You'd be surprised at the number of people (not just here) that don't appreciate good movies. I think The Hurt Locker would go over a lot of folk's heads.

This movie does have some dark humor, but it's mostly intense drama. It's about a guy that defuses bombs in the Middle East, so you can imagine.

I suspect that a good majority of people will be disappointed because there aren't enough action scenes or explosions.
