No, there is no hardware on display here. This is a sample of "print" media you could possibly see on a tablet like device.

There are plenty of people who would pay more than a netbook for a touchscreen notebook. And Apple is going to prove me right this year. They have hardware, and this is simply a software exhibition on some imaginary piece of hardware.

Again, you don't even know you need it... until you need it. We can bump this thread in a year so I can say I told you so.

No one said they wouldn't use the software. People are just saying they wont lug around a tablet like that.

If I had some sort of touchscreen device IN PLACE OF my laptop, then yes, I would carry it around. But if it's just for reading text, there is no way I'm carrying it and my laptop.

Most of that stuff is doable with a laptop today. The only difference is the touchscreen features.

This is probably the evolution of laptops over time...a few all ready have touchscreens and the ability to rotate the screen so it's like a tablet (just a little beefier)

One caution is to look at the WebTV and other "internet only" appliances that people thought would be huge in the early 2000's. Then the price of a PC or laptop came down and made them pretty useless.

Just trying to think when I'd use a tablet...At home I just have my laptop on a little table in my living room, and I watch movies and whatnot on my big tv. I don't travel enough to really warrant one right now.

Print media is definitely moving towards online, I think a tablet will end up fighting with the e-readers like the Nook or Kindle.

Apple's rumored to have a tablet coming out soon, the "iSlate", if you believe rumors. Definitely interesting, though I think they'll be somewhat expensive ($1000ish) and while they seem really cool I just question how much I'd use one. You are right though, maybe we'll find out we really want one once it's out and see exactly how cool they are. None of us here know the future "hot thing" or else we'd be millionaires lol

I could definitely use that Coursesmart, I hate carrying books around and to be able to have all your books and notes on a tablet, not to mention the ability to highlight important stuff, would be awesome.
