I will probably get MLB Extra Innings this spring. I am literally counting the hours till installation lol. I prob wont leave the couch this weekend.

Oh and the best part is my best friend has it, so we are gonna do the refer a friend thing and both get a $100 credit!

Hey P, please tell me what's necessary to get this done? This is awesome news for me, if true.

First you need to network the 2 boxes, hardwired is best. You can either hook them up directly to the HR (DVR) or hook both up to your router/switch. Then you need to download the CE software. This is a beta testing software that DTV releases every Friday & Saturday nights and is open to anyone who wants to help test. There is potential for it to mess your box up, but it hasn't ever happened to me or most people who download it. Its going to be released in a few weeks to everybody in the winter update.

To read about the download process, how to network, and what receivers work, got to www.dbstalk.com. The forum you want to view is at http://www.dbstalk.com/forumdisplay.php?f=171. You have to signup, but its free. Then look at the MRV stickys. Also if you look at the http://www.dbstalk.com/forumdisplay.php?f=119 Anouncements section it will tell you what new or improved stuff is in each download and what receivers it is for.

How much are you paying? The expensive price and being locked into a contract keeps me away.

1 year contract. I got the Choice Extra package. Its over 200 channels and 150 are HD. I believe its $54.99/mo. I had some rebate though, so I am not sure if will be cheaper. It won't let me look it up right now.

When I signed up they did actually give me as many HDMI cables as I needed to get everything hooked up correctly and the way I wanted them hooked up.

I have the same package as you are getting...but the 54.99 doesn't include the $10 a month hd access,as well as the hd box rental.

When all is told,your bill will be roughly 70-75 bucks a month,provided you don't get any sports packages...then expect over $100.

Also...they'll offer you for an additional 5 bucks a month,their protection plan...it covers your receivers and all that good stuff,so your total a month will add up to a pretty good chunk of change.

Quick question. Will the weather affect installation? I don't think he will have to get on the roof because there is an old dish on the side of my place. I just figured he would pull that one down and put the new one there.

Depends if he wants to get paid. The new dish is heavier, so most won't put it on the side. He will definitely have to put a new mast up as the new dish needs a bigger pole.

Edit: I would call in the morning, DTV should be able to give you the local company's # and make sure you are still on schedule. If they don't show up, call DTV and tell them you want a $100 credit for a missed appointment, this is standard and they should give it to you without a fuss.

yeah- i have the same package. When your deal is up youll be paying about $80 a month with no premium channels and no sports packages.

My bill is like $90 bucks because every 3 months i call and get the 2 for 1 premnium deals.
