    PS3 and its many uses.

As I've started using a PS3, I've been wondering if anyone has ever come up with the many uses for this machine. I've searched google and this website but can not find a list of uses. I'm wanting to get the most out of this baby, so if you have any cool ways that you are using your machine, please post here and I'll update this first post. If you know of a list floating around out there, please post that as well and we'll put a kabosh on this thread.

-Gaming (online via router) <--still had to post
-Stream Netflix movies (you need a router)
-Create a slideshow w/music & pictures on a DVD/Blu Ray Disc, and play it!
-Watch amazing Blu-Rays, and also plays DVD's.
-Install Linux onto it and use it as a PC
-Uninstall the hard drive and put a bigger one in there.

What else? I know this baby has to do a ton more, right?

You can also install PlayOn onto your cpu and use it as a UPnP device that the PS3 will recognize. You then can legally stream in much more than Netflix (Hulu, Crackle, Amazon, etc., plus some unofficial plug-ins) .... pm me.

Connect via remoteplay using a psp.

If you have the PSeye you can view it through remoteplay as well.

There's a ton more as we know but this is one of my favs.

Enable sharing on your PC via Windows Media Player (there are tutorials out there) that allow you to stream videos from your PC to the TV...great if you ever download shows and whatnot

          Just kidding... but not really.

Aside from playing games and watching Blu-rays, I also store all of any such media content on there, such as video, photos, and music. I use the PS3 Media Server as well so I can stream/copy things right off my laptop, I often times use the Internet when mine is clogging up for some reason, I have even printed off the machine before as well. I also use Life with PlayStation so I can run Folding@Home for the protein folding simulations. Once my PS3 gets fixed I plan on installing Linux (which I have a keyboard and mouse for), and I also hope that someday PlayTV comes to the US so I can DVR some shows. No PlayStation Eye for me until I can definitively use it as a laptop webcam as well, but hopefully somebody cracks that thing someday, as it's seemingly plenty expensive as is for its little use on the PS3.

Main thing is media hub for streaming content off any laptop or computer connected to the same network.

Another biggie if is that it can decode lossless audio tracks on blu rays. These are much better than Dolby digital.

Of course, free online play is a huge plus.

If the game supports it you can. You have to keep the BD in the PS3 though.

It is a great machine. You can install an OS and use it as a PC.
