the coming wave of pointlessly 3D movies...

    James Bond...

The new James Bond film will be in 3D.

An insider said: "The 23rd Bond movie has been put back a few months and that has given them the time to prepare to film it in 3D. Everyone involved in the project is really excited because it will take the franchise in a new direction."
Avatar is going to lead many studios to the thought that their movies could have more financial success with 3D. Too bad that probably none of them will be approached the way Cameron made his movie.

I guess this at least means the shaky cam is out for the next Bond.

Im not interested in everything being in HD, and Bond doesnt need it, imo. Its fine for some things, and perfect for others, but some things just dont need it.

It's the next wave of "enhancements." I bet when color TV was just coming out, there were people saying "I don't need to see this in color!"

It's going to evolve and become standard. If you saw Avatar, it wasn't non stop things flying at your face, it was used nicely to add this really cool layer of depth. I have a feeling that that will become the norm. Of course, there's always going to be movies that use the latest technology in the wrong ways.

The only thing I dont like about 3D moves (besides the glasses) are the movie prices. Instead of spending $20 to go see a movie for 2 now with 3D its $30.
        MLB: Texas Rangers
        Soccer: FC Dallas, Fleetwood Town
        NCAA: SMU, UTA
        NFL: Dallas Cowboys
        NHL: Dallas Stars
        NBA: Dallas Mavericks

That's a problem with all movies nowadays, it's not limited to the 3D ones.

If the next lot of movies are the same sort of 3D (the whole depth thing Bruins mentioned and the feeling of actually being there with the characters) as Avatar was (and not gimmicky like the old 3D movies) then bring it on.

I have found it hard to watch 'normal' movies since seeing Avatar now 3 times in 3D

I have my own polarized 3D glasses now, so I'll probably just be buying tickets for the original movie and walking into the 3D movie.

Not happy with the new trend kicking in, though. It's just too soon for my taste.
