    The Biggest Loser

Anyone else besides me watch this show? It's one of the most, pardon the pun, bloated shows on tv with commercials and BS so it's a MUST to DVR it but as a fat guy myself struggling with my weight it gives me tremendous motivation. I must say though that this season so far has been tremendously humiliating to the contestants. They should take care to watch they don't go too far in that area or chubbies like myself may get too depressed about the whole thing and quit watching altogether.

    Thoughts?

I've never gotten into it, but i will say with some of the really fat people they got this year (from the commercials and online articles i've seen), i'm kinda worried for them. I know the show makes you run and work out a ton, and part of me wonders if someone's gonna have a heart attack

The concept of the show is great but it's bruuuuuutal to watch even on DVR. The last few seasons I've just taped the season finale, that's all you need to see. They draw everything out so much and there are so many commercials as ODogg said, it's painful to watch. I like the ending though, very emotional and good to see people make a gigantic, positive change in their lives.

          Re: The Biggest Loser

Yeah ehh..I think I watched the 2 hour show last night in a little over an hour, that's a ridiculous amount of commercials, even by regular tv standards.

As for me, i'm 275 right now and should be about 220 according to my doctor. I was once 310 and have been as low as 250 over the last 5 years so it's a constant struggle. This show can be very emotional for a person who understands the struggle. I can't see getting as much, if any at all, from the show if you've never been fat though.

I'm really hoping that 526 pound guy who is Italian can win it. He reminds me a lot of myself in how he doesn't get any women because he doesn't like himself so how can he expect someone else to? Of course it's odd to watch the show and see like some of those HUGE guys who are married to decent looking women, so I guess it's not the weight issue so much as a self-acceptance one.

thanks, i will check it out, i've tried just about everything. the only thing that works for me is eating very little, eating only the healthiest of foods and exercising like a nutjob and frankly it's hard to sustain that (altho i do keep trying)

I've watched every season with my wife. It is a must to DVR it and watch it later. Way to many commercials and recaps.

One thing that makes me laugh is when Bob & Jillian tell the contestants to chew a piece of gum when they feel hungry. Realistically who the hell is going to abide by that? Gee, I'm hungry should I have this bag of chips, nah I'll have a stick of Wrigley's.

I think it's stupid to tell someone not to eat when they're hungry. They just need to work out the difference between eating when they're hungry, and eating because they're in the mood.

                        Re: The Biggest Loser

I read/heard somewhere that chewing gum makes you hungrier because your stomach reacts to your taste buds being stimulated (or however you want to word it) and readies itself for food. When it doesn't get any it cries out for some lol.

I know if I chew gum on a empty stomach I get a queasy feeling in my stomach.

I also agree on the stupidity of telling someone not to eat. Listen to your body, it's telling you that it's hungry for reason - assuming your eating healthily. If you're hungry because you've loaded up on sugar/soda, etc and your brain is being tricked into thinking you're still hungry then it's another story.
