Cloverfield 2
I really wish they would go ahead and decide to do another Cloverfield movie. There have been rumors going around for over a year and half now. I really enjoyed the first one especially with the first person cam view (i know, most people hated it, made em sick). Who else is hoping for a #2?

Re: Cloverfield 2
I enjoyed it myself but I hate the fact that a movie should get made because it had a good start. What would the plot be? A solid fact about Hollywood is their desire to capitalize on the last great thing that they did. If it doesn't have a solid plot, I'd say please don't try. If it's an original like the first, I'm there front and center. -
Re: Cloverfield 2
I totally agree with your post. Im not sure how they would be able to continue off the first one because they made the ending of it so one-dimensional, meaning there were no other possible endings thus a limited number of ways to start off a second movie if there were one.

Re: Cloverfield 2
Unless they followed a completely different group (ie: the military), then I don't see how a sequel would work. Plus, the monster has already been fully revealed so there's no buildup for that anymore.

Re: Cloverfield 2
I really liked Cloverfield but don't know that a sequel makes much sense. A lot about the first was unique, from the marketing campaign to the handheld camera perspective of the movie. Not sure what hook a sequel would haveHBO's "The Wire" should rank as one of the top 10 shows EVER on tv - period

Re: Cloverfield 2
Here would be my pitch for a sequel. The movie would be set days after the first one in either an East Coast city near the Ocean like Boston or a Great Lakes city like Chicago. This time a second monster lands and the normal havoc ensues. Follow another group of people who are being chased....the path of destruction moves toward the original monster's area where an epic battle between the two occurs with the result being this second monster came here to save us from the first.Comment

It could be better seeing it on film, but I have a feeling that if they make a sequel (or "interquel", or whatever), they won't screw it up. Not only that, but they'll do the secretive viral campaign again; they won't go off spoiling so much as that, and a good reason would be because whatever they say actually may sound worse on paper than it could ever look on the big screen.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

That sounds terrible on paper, and I almost hope you were being sarcastic with that.

Re: Cloverfield 2
Well I don't pitch Hollywood movies for a living. The sequel would need to have some kind of dynamic twist to be worth while, the problem is finding something that is fresh. I remember in the original viral marketing they made reference to that mysterious sound once picked up in the ocean. From the Cracked.com article today there was mention of a similar mysterious sound that came from outer space. I'd try to find some way to link these up.
What I mean is the way that I read it (though this isn't your intention), it looks like this to me:
"I was sent down here to save you guys. This is my destiny. I love you." (clouds open up)
What I mean by that is that, on paper only, people perceive things as hokier than it should be and pass it off because of it.
So sure, if they continue on with the thing that plunged in the ocean and perhaps have them battle (but not at the helm of not destroying other things in the way and such or not as a big mission to only destroy the monster than fly away or something), that could work. But remember, this is probably only best with the first person camera, meaning they would have to see the action the entire time.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

Re: Cloverfield 2
There are tons of rumors out there about a sequel. At the end of the credits, there is a sound of what sounds "Help Us". When played backward, it says "It's still alive."
Which left open the door for a sequel. I think Abrams played with the idea, and that sound is in there for a reason. I think you follow the same events, from a different perspective.
I like the idea of the military, then after they "drop the bomb," maybe show what happened after. And of course, how the military found a way to finally defeat the monster. Fin.
Oh, for a little peak as to the possibility, just google "Cloverfield Sequel" or start here:

Re: Cloverfield 2
Cloverfield sucked. I wanted to slap each person in that film. And it was bad enough a monster was walking around destroying the entire city, but he had little buddies drop off him to start picking off people. Just stupid.
Here's my sequel. The military blow up monster boy, slice him up and everybody shish kabob's the mother****er.Comment
