Possible to rent HDTV's for Super Bowl?

So I'm planning on throwing a pretty good dorm-sized Super Bowl party, but aside from the nice sound setup and be being probably the only person in the dorm that understands how to get a local HD feed in their room, the TV is only 23" and people always go for the bigger TV just because somehow they think it must be better to watch it on.

So as jealousy kicks in, I'm highly considering spending some of my Christmas money on a good-sized HDTV, but I merely want to rent it for the Super Bowl, if that makes sense. Does anyone know of a place that does this kind of thing? Is there a website that maybe shows how much it might cost?

If anyone else is doing this, any input would be appreciated. Thanks.

I'm sure Rent A Center's rent TV's. Not sure if it is a national chain though.

This is a national company, don't know about prices, but you can rent by the week.

It looks like I have two very close to me (and I mean five minutes driving distance). Their website doesn't really show any price points, but rather it kind of just asks you to call your store. I guess they're closed on Sundays though, so I may have to continue my research tomorrow.

Thanks though, this is pretty much exactly what I'm looking for. Anything at around 52" would be perfect (depending on how much it costs). I'm trying not to spend around $100 and upwards or so, but I think that would be very weird for them to charge me that much just to have a TV for less than 24 or 48 hours. Actually, that's downright ludicrous.

        We'll see though.

EDIT: Oh, according to p_rushing it looks like I can only rent by the week, which is unfortunate because I can understand why that may be up to the hundreds of dollars. We'll see what it comes down to though, because I'm sure many other people are trying to negotiate the exact same thing as I am.

Oh well, I may either just have to stick to my own TV (which I honestly don't mind and other people don't as long as they're here), or joining someone else's party where they have a bigger TV with a crappy SD feed, no proper calibration, and TV speakers (video-audiophile here).

Well that's reassuring. By the way that my friends were talking about it, they were thinking I wouldn't even be able to get a Super Bowl party in for under $100 in renting an HDTV.

I wonder if maybe I can have it cost less by "shipping" it myself instead of having them do it. It'll sure take a long time to carry upstairs and all that though.

Why don't you just explain to them that they can hook up an antenna and have the game in HD?

It should only way about 80-100 lbs. Won't be hard at all to carry up

Yeah, but you have to be careful. Any damage and your $50-100 rental just became a $800-1200 purchase.

But honestly, I'd just let somebody else with a bigger tv host it and just set the tv up for them (you could "rent" a good antenna from Walmart and return it for a full refund with the receipt). Not worth the investment and potential risk, IMHO.

I definitely wouldn't go through the hassle of renting a tv. I would just host it on your small tv or cancel the party and go to the one with the bigger tv. I don't know your credit situation, but here's what I would do if I didn't have a lot of money (which I don't and this is how I bought my tv): get the tv you want for television and gaming at BestBuy or anywhere else (brand-smart) and finance it. Pay a little each month. I bought a $2000 tv with no money in the bank and it's paid off now and is my pride and joy.

Because they either don't understand or care enough.

Well, I want to wait a few years until I actually move out of the dorms to finance a bigger TV. I'd prefer waiting for the newer technology, etc. to come out because it looks like LED TV's are going to take over the market, so I'll wait for those to knock down in price.

Like I said, I'm completely satisfied with my 23" LCD. Frankly, HD looks beautiful on it, and I've seen my share of HDTV's either in store or at my home, other friends' homes, etc. It just weirds me that people are always about a bigger screen, regardless of the other specifications.

It's cool though, I may just try this next year instead. It's still something I'd like to look into for the future.

Because most people have couches sitting 10+ feet away so you need a bigger TV to even be able to see whats goin on.

Buy one from Costco and return it the next day. Problem solved.
