Re: Must Own Music
First of all, thanks everyone for the suggestions. As I read them, there were alot of them, such as the highly recommended Black Keys, that I already own. Some others that I'm just not that interested in, but again thanks. I will look into the cds I saw that did interest me and I don't already have.Comment

Re: Must Own Music
Speaking of the Black Keys/Dan Auerbach, has anyone checked out Blakroc? It's the Black Keys collaborating with a bunch of notable hip hop artists. Basically hip hop layered over bluesy guitar and some psychadelic stuff. I'm not usually much into hip hop but man, that album blows me away. The Black Keys can do no wrong in my opinion.Comment

Re: Must Own Music
Anything Tool. Coheed and Cambria are also very good, eventhough some people are turned off because of the lead singers voice. I for one actually like it as it gives them there own distinctive sound. Which is pretty hard to do nowadays."The academic support at Ohio State, there is no way you can fail. Even if you're giving minimal effort there is no way you can fail."

Re: Must Own Music
Thought I would add a group for anyone reads this thread and wants some ideas of their own. Porcupine Tree...Fear Of A Blank Planet and or Deadwing. Both are good cds, IMO the best two from the Progressive Rockers. They are progressive rock, not progressive metal, so don't make the mistake of thinking they are like Tool and other Prog metal bands. Their major influence is Pink Floyd and that is kind of what to expect, but not as trippy and a bit more crunch. Still very well written songs and very enjoyable to relax to.Comment

Re: Must Own Music
I like The Mars Volta, but I feel they are often too chaotic for their own good. Their latest cd,Octahedron even though it's quite a bit mellower than anything they've done (that I've heard at least), is very pleasant. Even the heavier tracks. Still an immense amount of talent in the group. I just hope the keep th chaos down on future releases as well.Comment
