    Twilight Zone Thread

Discuss. One of my favorite series of all time. Fourth of July/New Years Sci Fi marathons are like Christmas to me. Nothing better than being sick/dreamy, turning on the tv and getting lost in episode after episode.

Brilliant episode. Serling was a true genius. It's nuts that so many of the episodes went on to inspire the plots for well known movies (Child's Play for instance). Shadow play, the one where the man keeps reliving his execution brought the concept of a time loop to the forefront. Groundhog's Day was inspired by that episode.

A Stop at Willoughby was goat. When I realized there was actually a Willoughby Ohio (most likely inspired by the zone) I popped a rod. I would love for them to make a Twilight Zone amusement park.

One of my favorite shows. I used to watch it with my dad when I was a kid, and then after that I started to watch it all the time on my own. Wish it was on more, but I catch it from time to time on scifi around 4 or 5 am. The marathons of this are always great.

Probe 7 over and out is one of my favorites

I'm a bigger fan of the creepier ones more than the feel good ones.

              Great show

The number of actors who were already stars or went on to become stars was amazing.

I love the one with Agnes Morehead (some of you might know her as Samantha's mother Esmirelda in the original Bewitched series) as the country woman being invaded.

                    Agreed.

This is a shame with near infinite potential to be remade but every time it gets botched.

Can someone explain to me how they had the technology to do the stopwatch scenes in "A kind of stopwatch?" The guy walking around while the rest of the world has stopped, I am almost 100 percent certain it isn't a case of the actors "trying there hardest to stay still." The episode was released before the Beatles even broke big. Crazy tech.

I actually remember learning how this was done when I took Film in college. IIRC, two layers of film were overlapped, one with him walking around, the other just freeze frames of the 'world'.

Was this one of the first instances this technique was used? It's nuts that could be done so well back then.

                            My favorite series ever.

Rod Serling is the first writer I wanted to be like. Reading anything he has written, watching any of his interviews: all things I do with great interest. To me, he was a master of creativity and story telling.
"It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace

"You'll not find more penny-wise/pound-foolish behavior than in Major League Baseball." - Rob Neyer
