Re: Twilight Zone Thread
Dislimb is schooling us on Twilight Zone trivia."It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace

Re: Twilight Zone Thread
I've never really watched this show before; but I always knew what it was.
I've watched a few episodes on cbs's site and the stories are pretty neat, but sometimes the acting makes it hard to watch; it's just so cheesy and over dramatic at times.Comment

Re: Twilight Zone Thread
I'm not trying to come off as pretentious or condescending or anything like that, it's just that I have been watching this show for over 20 years and for some reason have absorbed more useless information about it than ever I cared to! I have had the entire series on Columbia House VHS tapes for over 15 years and the entire series on DVD for nearly 10 years. Hell, I even double dipped and picked up the Definitive Edition DVDs when they came out 4-5 years ago too. I'd venture to say that I have seen every episode somewhere between 10-20 times. I also used to post on the most active Twilight Zone forum online quite regularly (when I left that forum I had the fourth most total posts there ever, somewhere around 7,000 or so) but quit posting there over a year ago due to some serious hypocrisy going on, but that's another story. So needless to say, yes, I know a little bit about TZ!Last edited by 55; 02-13-2010, 08:44 AM.Comment

Re: Twilight Zone Thread
Now, I will agree that there are times when an actor will just push something way over the top. I can already picture moments in my head when an actor would just take a step or two toward the camera, eyes bugged out, and scream or issue a fearful warning. I guess it can be funny and over dramatic.
But the Twilight Zone is definitely about the stories and more importantly, the human condition. Serling found a way to say so much about the way people think through science fiction stories. It's amazing, really.
Which episodes have you seen so far?"It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. Re: Twilight Zone Thread
Absolutely not! The original series aired from 1959-1964 and I was born in 1980. However, I have discussed the show in great detail literally hundreds of times with many, many folks that have in fact been watching the show since its initial run on television some 50 years ago.Comment

Re: Twilight Zone Thread
The first season of NG (including the pilot movie) was awesome. The second season was hit or miss. The third season was total garbage. Jack Laird basically muscled Serling out of any part of the show other than hosting duties midway through the second season and it adversely effected the quality of the series. There are, however, several episodes of NG that stack up just as well as some of the best TZ episodes of all time. The Caterpillar and The Sins Of The Fathers are the first two that come to mind.Comment
