If you want the most options available, go PC. If you want ease of use and stability, go Macbook. I prefer Windows based laptops due to the ability to upgrade and third party app support. But the Macbook does have it's really good points. There's not nearly as much background junk running in Apple's OS as with Windows. So you effectively get more muscle directly applied to the task you are working on. But I disagree about Mac computers being similar in price with a PC-based laptop. I was just reading the BB ad and they have an i7 for $1000. With all the bells and whistles that a $1700 Macbook would have. Actually you don't have any Macbooks that run i7's. I'd rather spend the money on the horsepower. Even for video editing or HD video, you can't make up for horsepower with streamlining. And from all reports, Windows 7 has cured a lot of what was ailing the recent Windows OS'.

Now when it comes to a desktop, no contest in my book. PC all the way.... And to the others, don't buy Dell, they suck....

True you can get a PC cheaper than a mac, of course, but not necessarily leaps and bounds better if you are matching prices.

The bonus for the XPS is the bigger screen. But the mac has descrete graphics while the XPS uses shared memory for its graphics.

I would also like to add that the build quality of the macbook pro is unmatched by its pc counterpart in the same price range.

Additionally, you can use windows 7 (best windows OS of all time) with boot camp on your mac.

Apple does inflate its upgrade options grossly so you want to not buy your base system and get the upgrade parts from third-party vendors.

Not sure where you came up with that comparison, but $1999 will get you a much better PC configuration than that. I recently configured a Dell for my sister for about $700 cheaper, with more RAM, a bigger hand drive, HDMI output, and a backlit keyboard (though it did have a 15.4" screen).

Personally, I'm a PC guy, though I've used Macs as well and will probably eventually get one when I have the funds to do so. If you are doing a lot with media, or you have some extra money to throw around, get the Mac. Otherwise, for the average user, I think you are better off with a PC, especially now that Windows 7 has turned things around for Microsoft.

I'm trying to decided if I if I want to get rid of my laptop (lenovo) for a MacBook. I've had my iPhone 3Gs since July (typing on it now) and I absolutely LOOOVE iT!!! I've heard the MacBook is much easier to use, more powerful, and less issues than the pc/laptop. Feel free to chirp in and give ya opinion...

If you like the iPhone, you'll like the Mac OS.

Why not just stick with the Lenovo? Nice machine.. does it do what you need it to? Have money to burn?

I'm using both, only because I'm trying to learn things on the Mac. I think both have their goods and bads. I'm just a tech junkie, so I like to play and learn.

that is what sold me. Liked my iPhone so much (very first one) that I bought an iMac. A year later I bought a MacBook Pro. Never using windows again.
