Re: We are the world 2010...

I don't care to listen to it. There's only one "We Are the World" and I won't accept a bunch of talentless hacks stealing a song that brought together a real collection of musical talent.

Why doesn't this generation just come up with their own idea if they want to be remembered?

So tired of music and its artists today.
"It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace

"You'll not find more penny-wise/pound-foolish behavior than in Major League Baseball." - Rob Neyer

I've heard worse, but not much worse. Couple of rap freestyles in WATW. WTH?

Also didn't know Vince Vaughn could sing. Go figure?!

The first one wasn't that great and the new one is just as bad.

The intentions of these super-group songs are certainly just, but the songs themselves are usually pretty terrible.

I liked the original. From all of your post I probably won't be listening to the new one lol

You realize who put this together, right? The same "talentless hacks" who put it together 25 years ago: Quincy Jones and Lionel Richie.

Re: We are the world 2010...

I do, however, agree that this is a pretty sad attempt.

The "auto-tune" section of Lil Wayne, Akon, and T-Payne was comical.

And I thought there was a little too much Michael Jackson going on. I realize he helped write the song, but what is this: a song to unite the world over the crisis in Haiti or another Michael Jackson memorial?

Spotted him twice. Once at 6:56 and again at 7:28 into it. Do I get double bonus points?

And I echo the sentiments of many others by saying that this version sucked big time.

to quote Frank Barone (of Everybody Loves Raymond) with a minor adjustment: "I could have ate Alphabits cereal and crapped out a better version..."

                            that was just awful...
