Jack was annoying in the second and third movie.

I really loathed the sequels to this. Pirates 1 was good fun. The sequels were nothing like it. And they just seemed to drag and drag, way too overly dragged out for such a movie.

I enjoyed Jack's part throughout the sequels, but I felt when the series tried adding another main plotline with Bloom and Kiera was the main problem with the pacing and overall enjoyment of the films. I really grew to dislike both characters and actors by the end of the third film.

I never really had any issues with either of the sequels. Thoroughly enjoyed all three movies.

I am, however, a little worried that they might've replaced the boring Bloom/Knightly story with a new love story. There's 2 shots in that trailer (at the 1:24 mark and again at the 1:59 mark) of a young man (who kind of looks like Orlando Bloom) and then a young woman. I'm worried about having to endure another love story. I could be wrong, and maybe they realized we saw the other movies in spite of the love story and not because of it, but I am a bit worried.
They could possibly be younger versions of Depp and Cruz since they're searching for the Fountain of Youth.

On the scoring front, Rodrigo y Gabriela are lending their guitar playing talents and working with Hanz Zimmer on the soundtrack.

Its good to see that Gabriela is doing fine. They had to cancel some tour dates last year (which included one close to me - bummer) because she was wearing her arm out. Its understandable, I can't seem to comprehend what she is doing and the speed of it.

Their cover of "One" by Metallica is pretty awesome.

The 1st was so original..... but I thought it fell off after that.

I thought it was good. Blackbeard was a ruthless badass and one of my favorite characters of the franchise. I enjoyed it because it felt like a pirates movie without the burden of a forced Bloom/Knightly love-story.

I loved it. I want to see it again, and soon. Depp and Penelope had great chemistry, Blackbeard was, as mentioned, a ruthless badass, and Barbossa was awesome as well (if a little too sickly looking). Best one since the first one easily, imo.

As a stand alone movie it was good. Compared to the original trilogy it was mediocre. Penelope's character wasn't quite as strong or appealing as the one Keira Knightly played. There was also a lack of wordplay by Jack which I always found to be one of the more interesting facets of his character. I'd say it also lacked a bit of the 'epicness' (I can't think of a better word atm) that the original movies had. Something important was going on but it didn't feel as though it were on the grand scale that the originals had.

Yeah I agree it was nice not having that love story in there. I really disliked #2 and thought #3 was average, but I really liked the new one. Not as good as the original, but a very fun return to the franchise.
