Power inverters for the vehicle. Need some info
Does it matter how much juice they use? The gf is going to Florida with her folks and wants to use her laptop. Do I need to get one that has higher watts? I see some for 20 bucks and some for around 50 or 60. What's the probability of it shorting out her dad's Odyssey or somethin? lolTags: None -

Nothing will short out. The worst case is that it will blow a fuse. Some where under the steering wheel area or some are under the hood, usually, you will find the fuse box and it will tell you what's on the fuse. Find the fuse and see what else is also running off that. If it blows, you lose power to those things listed. The cheaper ones probably have less accessories, protection on the power inverter, etc.
One thing is to only run it when the car is on. You can run it for a little while, but just to be safe, don't use it unless the car is running. The battery will be drained and you may not be able to start the car. -

you can get a higher wattage one hard wired to your battery in about an hour from a car stereo store. not sure cost.
a friend has 700 watt mounted under dash- hard wired to battery - heavy duty fuse in-line with wire running from battery to unit, so if it blows , it doesnt affect other power needs in the car-- plugs in a power strip and runs multiple laptop/dvd player, etc at same time.
just make sure car is running, like other post said.Comment
