    Circuit City is coming back?

I hated CC at times, but this would be good as BB can't be the only one in town.

After experiencing great sales numbers online, Systemax is considering brick-and-mortar locations for Circuit City stores.

You remember Circuit City. Their stores were once close competitors to Best Buy, but they took a slow spiral down to liquidation in 2008/2009. It seems like forever ago that there was a mainstream competitor to the blue giant, aside from online retail locations of course.

And it’s online retail that may be bringing Circuit City back. The current owner of the company, Systemax, is strongly considering the relaunch of traditional brick-and-mortar Circuit City stores.

Systemax may not be a familiar name, but the brands sure are. They own Tiger Direct, and they’re the company who brought CompUSA back from the brink of non-existence. Their stores aren’t quite as widespread as they once were of course, but there still are 34 CompUSA locations across the country.

As chief executive Richard Leeds puts it, “We have a tremendous amount of excitement around our company now because of these acquisitions.” He says that the purchase of the two companies was the deal of a century. “Recession hurts, but it also creates opportunities that would not have existed otherwise.”

The liquidation sale was terrible they ofter marked price over retail just to slash them with little to no savings compared to other retailers. I remember looking for a DVD recorder and VHS player with built in HD tuner found one at the store for $175 marked down. Went to Best Buy and saw the same model for $119 regular price. The only good thing we found was a memory card for my cell phone at the time.

I was surprised when I saw them online but nothing special about the prices and I doubt they do the price matching again.

Liquidation sale prices are set by liquidators not the company. I worked at CC for five years. Shout out to CC 857 Tampa, Fl.

CC online is already up. It's a exact duplicate of Tiger Direct and Compusa online.

Same will go for their CC store. It will be just like all their other stores except with the CC label. Doesn't really matter. It will be Tiger Direct with a CC makeover visually.

and there is absolutely nothing wrong with that. IF they can sell at cheaper prices rather then the stupid crazy prices that made them go out of business the first time.

There are some days when my computer likes to break down and i would like to go pick up a part. I cant do that right now. Not for a decent price. I rather wait a few days for online shipping. If they open one up in my city, then i can just drive there and its all better.

yeah, they threw CC.com back up last May. The benefit of using the Circuit City brand is that it's got more recognition than tiger direct, compusa, or even newegg

Wonder if that means my insurance on my T.V. is good again. If so, that's good news cause I still got a couple years left on the isurance.

Good point. They might make the CompUSA's into CC's with adding movies, games, etc. to their stores.

It's always good. The insurance you bought was handled by a 3rd party. Take a look on CC's web site for the information.

You're kidding? When they went out of business I threw away my insurance paperwork for my Sammy thinking I was screwed if anything were to happen to it. So the warranty is still good?

Yes. Any warranty done with a store is usually handled via 3rd party. The company they used was ASSURANT SOLUTIONS

I had never known that TigerDirect was owned by them (Systemax). I knew that TD and the CompUSA site were the same, I always thought that TigerDirect had just bought the name and made basically a mirror site to get more business. I've bought components from TD almost exclusively for the last 8 years. They ship out of Illinois and I get it next day every time. To see that Circuit City is part of the family now, makes me glad. If they can give the level of service that Tiger does, I think it would be feasable to bring it back.

I might have to get me a Systemax PC, now. I really believe in TigerDirect, now that I know they're all the same company, it makes me really take a second look at their house brand PC's. They build them right here in Ohio. I've been buying Ultra products forever,as well, never even knowing. They make good stuff. Learn something new every day!
