Treme's created by David Simon, the same guy who made The Wire.
What I got from the first episode is that Treme is going to focus on music, bars, restaurants, entertainment, rebuilding and uncovering corruption in a Katrina-destroyed area of New Orleans. The pilot episode lacked the edginess The Wire did, but it was still good TV. The characters were interesting and worth caring about, the dialog was witty, and it was well-directed.
Those of you who are tired of cookie-cutter sitcoms (Two and a Half Men/How I Met Your Mother), ridiculous plotlines (Lost/24) and reality TV, this is a show worth checking out.
