Does anyone watch this show?

It's pretty interesting. I just started watching and I'm actually shocked that it's very open and you can see so much resistance to what Jamie is offering - change.

It also sheds light on the ignorance a lot of people have when it comes to what they eat.

I recommend those at least watch the first show. It is available on ABC.com.

Have them all saved on my dvr. I think there is only 6 episodes so I will probably wait until the finale and watch one after the other.

I have seen this a couple times and I agree, it is disgusting the amount of resistance he runs into on the show. But lets be honest, school cafeteria workers are amongst the lowest rung of our society job wise, whether it is fair or not.

I love this show...

I hope he has the influence here that he's had in England...

He had huge inpact on the transition to healthy food in their schools...

The processed stuff I've seen ALL the people on that show eat just plain shocks me...

I love this show, but it makes me alternately infuriated and wanting to cry basically the entire time. As someone who loves food and has a passion for it on basically every level, it's so disheartening to see that kids don't even know where food comes from... when he was doing the veggie quiz and none of them even knew what a potato was, I wanted to go curl up in a ball. Last week's episode was a nice change from the doom and gloom, some bigwig types finally seeming to care about their town and put some money behind the project.

It's just such a basic good and such a well-intentioned thing that Jamie is trying to do, but the levels of resistance that he encounters are pretty amazing... how can people be against healthy eating for kids? It's fine if they want to cram McDonald's down their faces every day since they're adults, but at least give the kids a fighting chance at not having diabetes and one of those Buick-sized coffins... holy hell.

On the meta level, it's a window into exactly how ****ed up our macro-level food system is, where it's cheaper/easier to feed kids processed garbage than it is to feed them freshly-prepared healthy meals. The scene where Rhonda (the main school district lady) eyeballed his 7-veggie stir fry and determined that it didn't have enough veggies but that FRIES counted under the national guidelines, I felt like crying just like Jamie did. It's unconscionable hot this stuff is set up, the government has failed us SO badly in the area of food regulation and nutritional information. The food lobbies just have them by the balls in the worst way..

Anyone else laugh and then feel sad after watching this show on Hulu and then seeing, "Brought to you by Hot Pockets Burger Shots"?? Another level of sad irony to the show there haha. Oh, America...
