    How come....

In every single movie, Vampires have to be aristocratic and werewolves have to be barbarians? Really...who sent up this precedent? I want a movie with sophisticated werewolves!!!!!

Jack Nicholson was aristocratic in Wolf. Lon Chaney Jr's family was pretty well to do in The Wolf Man. Michael J. Fox was pimpin in Teen Wolf.

Teen Wolf doesn't count; yes Werewolves aren't exactly barbarians in all their movies, but they're never as smart are cunning as their counter parts, Vampires.

Looking at movie like Van Helsing, The Underworld series and even the Twilight series. The wolves aren't necessarily dumbs brutes, but the Vampires always have a high class order with rules and regulations in place

          Just simple observation lol

I still want to know who came up with the notion that Humpty Dumpty was an egg. They never once say that in the song...

Vampires as aristocratic is a pretty new phenomena for the creature. Early folklore always described vampires as pale, demon-like savages (in each civilizations own words). I think the glorification of vampires in film is the primary reason vampires have been perceived as cunning and intelligent beings with class.
"It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace

"You'll not find more penny-wise/pound-foolish behavior than in Major League Baseball." - Rob Neyer

                        Re: How come....

My guess would be that is has something to do with vampires appearing more human than werewolves and that they are always vampires as opposed to werewolves who (generally) only transform with the full moon. Because a vampire is always a vampire, they have to be able to blend in and interact with humans so they have to be portrayed in a more intelligent light. Werewolves on the other hand only transform under the full moon and are (generally) indistinguishable from humans when not transformed so there is no need to give a transformed werewolf intelligence and sophistication. Also, it would seem kind of strange watching a creature with such animalistic traits as fur, fangs, and claws act in a sophisticated manner.

Because Vampires/werewolves are metaphorical in most works of fiction.

They stand for different "impulses" in man.
