The Soda Club by Soda Stream - Make Your Own Soda/Pop at Home

    Pretty neat little idea.

As far as I can tell, here are some pros and cons...

    Pros:
    -Less plastic/aluminum waste
-No lugging around bottles or cases of pop
-Tons of different flavors that you can always have on hand at home, including regular flavors, diet, and energy
-Going by the numbers, it doesn't appear to be as bad for you as Coke/Pepsi... Sodastream products have about 1/3 the calories, 1/3 the carbs, and FAR less sodium... even the Diet flavors have far less sodium and caffeine

    Cons:
-Initial investment is anywhere from $89.95 to $200, and that's likely without even knowing what the flavors taste like
-Not an incredible bargain... works out to be a little less than $.80 per liter, which is more than double what I pay at Wal-Mart for generic brand... seems about comparable with Coke/Pepsi brands though
-You have to exchange CO2 cartridges, and sending and receiving can be a PITA
-Diet flavors use Splenda, which some people don't like and of which many people fear the long-term effects

    Thoughts?

I think you've pretty much covered any concerns I had. I remember reading about this a while ago and didn't seem worth it. Like you said, you're not saving that much money wise (I usually get pop during huge store sales or at costco), and the CO2 thing just would be annoying for me.

I'm flat out lazy at times and having to deal with that regularly would make me not want to use it as much (being brutally honest about myself here lol)
