Re: Beats by Dr. Dre
You can get much better headphones for a fraction of the price.. You're basically paying $300 for the look and not for the sound.. Mediums and Highs sound awful in them because the lows drown them out. Not telling anyone what to spend their money on but just know that there is much better options for 1/3 the price if you're buying them for the quality of the sound and not how they look. There's plenty of graphs and charts comparing their sound to other headphones. Audio Technica ATH-M50 are my favorite bang for the buck headphones right now..Comment

You're right, you can get better headphones that are better bang for the buck but you can say that about a lot of things. Why does one pay more for a certain jeans, shoes, hat, shirt or a car. They all work the same and you can probably find cheaper of the product that maybe better quality but they're not as fashionable. People are buying beats because its trendy and fashionable. Nothing wrong with that because people want to be fashionable in different ways from the clothes they wear, to how they decorate their house, the car they drive to the type of glasses they wear. In this case its headphones.
Anyway, I do agree they are way over priced. You can get the same headphones refurbished which I did on http://www.monstercable.com/outletstore/
Nothing wrong with them at all, they looked and felt exactly like new ones when I got them.
I got my studios when they went on sale on that site for $120 and I also got the Pros for $200 during the holidays which is the price I think those headphones are worth.
BTW Pros are legit and sound really good.Comment

I have the studios in white and the solos in white, but I think I'm going to get those orange studios. I had been thinking about it for a while, then saw a pair someone had on campus and was sold.Last edited by legendkiller5; 05-04-2012, 01:01 AM.Rice Owls - Houston Astros/Dynamo/Rockets/Texans - Arsenal - PSGComment

I agree. Its different strokes for different folks. Depends on what you consider more important. Hell my jeans cost $125 but they are made in USA and made by a very small company but they are worth the price. Best jeans ever. Im sure you can find same quality for cheaper but hey if you're happy, you're happy. You're right, you can get better headphones that are better bang for the buck but you can say that about a lot of things. Re: Beats by Dr. Dre
I'm curious about this myself. I'd wanted some for Christmas but apparently I wasn't on the Nice list, so no Beats. Thinking about buying some now but can't pull the trigger for some reason. People always say "You can get equal or better sound for half the price" but never give suggestions. It's a little frustrating.Comment

Do a little research on Google. There's countless articles and reviews on great headphones that aren't beats.I'm curious about this myself. Re: Beats by Dr. Dre
I was in Target the other day and tried the Beats (to see what the fuss was all about) and also tried some Bose headphones that were around half as much ($$$)...
Not sure how much of the end result was the Headphones themselves and how much was attributable to the displays they were hooked up to (both brands have their own unique / individual display docks), but the Bose KILLED the Beats for range and clarity...
NOT EVEN CLOSE
So:
You could just go and do a similar test for yourself...
The Beats LOOK waaaay cooler, but that was about all they had going for them, IMHO...Comment
