Re: Best Bands You Never Heard Of

I'll throw The Wallflowers out there...

Most people know the song One Headlight. Most don't know who sings it or even that Jakob Dylan is Bob Dylan's son. The Wallflowers are my 2nd favorite band to come out of the 90s'(AIC being 1st)

While One Headlight is a great song...not even close to their best stuff..

Jakob sounds a lot like Bob but I think he's a much more talented singer. He's not on the level of his father in terms of song writing(then again, who is?) but he's a talented writer and they've got 3 outstanding albums in Bringing Down The Horse, Red Letter Days, Rebel Sweetheart.

Always found The Wallflowers to be a underrated band. The song 6th Avenue Heartache is a great song.

        Ha...

It is old. I honestly didn't realize how old it was. I heard it probably last year on Sirius Faction. I had never heard of Billy Talent before then.

I remember Billy Talent coming on the scene after The White Stripes Elephant made it big and everybody after that seemed like they too were a garage-rock band. MTV and VH1 would usually play Billy Talent, The Hives, The Strokes, The Vines, etc together in a big clump of semi-decent rock music.

I thought the WallFlowers first album was very solid, but after that they kind of fell off the planet. A shame really because the first should an immense amount of promise. Not a suprise really, being that Jacob is the son of a legend.
