The Dead Weather - Sea of Cowards

I know there's some Dead Weather fans on here. New album coming out this week.

I loved their last one, was a very nice garage-rock, stoner-blues album. The new songs sound like they're going bit more stoner-rock, should be fun to listen to.

Heard the song in the first vid. Their great don't get me wrong, but I'm more excited about a new White Stripes album.

Jack White is such a workhorse. I'm definately picking this one up. Hopefully The Raconteurs release another one soon as well. They are fav Jack White project.

Anybody pick it up today? I'm listening to it for the first time now and am loving it. They've definitely melded together very nicely after the first album and touring.

Have to wait until Thursday when I get paid, but will definately have it that morning. From what I've heard so far, it sounds like they definately have a stronger chemistry. I'll post my impressions once I have the disc in hand.

Yeah, their chemistry is definitely stronger. As much I loved the first one, I would say the new album is better. Its like what happened with The Raconteurs. The first album, although its great, you can still make out the separate fragments from each members' other band(s), while the second album is sounds more like an organic, unified band.

Ok, I really like the new cd, but there are some instances where songs sound very similar, such as the first two songs. Also the third song starts out sounding very much like "Bone House" from Horehound. Overall,as I said, the band sounds more cohesive on this cd, but really the disc sounds like a polished Horehound. That's not a bad thing, but I think there's a certain amount recycled music here and that keeps this from being superior. 3.5 out of 5 for me.

The first two songs are basically different parts of the same song as far I can figure - or at least the way I approach them. Blue Blood Blues leads right into Hustle and Cuss and then progresses from there. If the first two songs were combined and titled as Blue Blood Blues/Hustle and Cuss it would essentially be the same thing to me. They do feel the same, but that's about it. I'm not really hearing too many similarities between Difference Between Us and Bone House other than they both use the same effect.

I love the transitions on this album. Blue Blood Blues and Hustle and Cuss is the most obvious example, but the songs flow seamlessly into each other and I really enjoy it.

Re: The Dead Weather - Sea of Cowards

                      Just picked it up today.

It's definately a lot more bluesier than than Horehound.

Old Mary is definately a unique sound, I'll leave it at that.

Sometimes, I can't tell if Jack is singing or the lady from Kills. The harmonies sound similar.

I'll give it a 4 out of 5 stars. Not a 5 star because it's a short disc, but not bad 2 disc within a year.

I read where Jacks wife is coming out with her first music on CD. It's suppose to be a southern Goth/macabre sound. Jack is producing. It's coming out on the 24th of this month, I think. Title has something with the word Ghosts in it.

I'm still enjoying Slash's solo CD with various singers. Love the riffs in that one.

It's still an enjoyable cd for me, no doubt about it. I still really haven't listened to it enough to really pick out the "little things" about it. I'll be sitting down with some headphones soon with it. That's usually when I enjoy music the most.

My usual way to enjoy it should make it very interesting. The first one was a good stoner album, IMO. This one sounds like it will be a great one as far as I have been able to tell so far.

I really like "Jawbreaker". The riff kind of reminds me of Hendrix, also like the switch up towards the end of the song. At the moment my favorite on the disc.
