How on earth could you mistake coconut for potato Fran?
I have no idea on that, either. The texture is so much different, and flavor! Some of them a pretty hard I'd imagine. But, I'm pretty sure I'd know an almond from a cashew..

Then again I would not know trout as I'm not huge on fish..I'd know it was a fish though! Didn't she also guess roast beef for turkey or something, too? How can you mix up a red meat and turkey?

Missing the texture so badly is the thing that consistently blows my mind on those palate tests. That, and why chefs continue smoking cigarettes when that's the #1 palate-killing activity you can do... But yeah, how you gonna say potato when it's a piece of coconut -- the texture isn't even similar, much less the flavor. This group is mostly an embarrassment to cooking, no real shining star to be had IMO, buncha line cooks, mainly ****ty ones at that.

I hope Masterchef is more interesting than HK has become... it's really losing me, I am on auto-pilot during these giant 2-hour episodes and don't even notice who gets eliminated half the time.

sooooooo....now that they're alone, are Blue Jay and Holli finally going to start messing around?

Should be an interesting finale next week to say the least.

You know...I did not get a real "broke up with" vibe off of Holli's baby daddy.

The final 4 they had were probably the best in the shows history. None of them made a mistake the past 3 services. Autumn definitely had to set a record for most times on the chopping block though.

Yeah, same thing I was thinking when I saw them together. Made that whole Jay/Holli thing a little weird.

It was nice to see. Maybe they picked some better chefs this time because they were getting complaints about things. Hopefully the finale goes well and we don't see any screw-ups. I'd love to see it come down to who can come up with the best idea/menu for the restaurant rather than who doesn't screw up the most.

I think Jay is going to win, but I would rather Holli won, Jay annoys me for some reason.

Jay reminds me of Lou in 'Rescue Me'. I'm cool with whoever wins. I'm happy Ben is gone.

Same here. Crazy thing happened last Wednesday. Ben actually showed up where I work. At first I wasn't sure if it was him even though the guy looked just like him, but it was the day after the episode with their families and his wife and daughter came up behind him. Pretty cool to watch someone on TV and the very next day you see them.
