Nominations: Best Last Play in a Sports Movie

Fictional or not.... let's get some nominations going for this category of BEST LAST PLAY, then we'll do a poll.

My nomination: The touchdown at the end of The Longest Yard, Original version with Burt Reynolds.

The original Bad News Bears from 1976 for sure. That was the first movie where the hero team actually didn't win which was a great twist that nobody expected at the time.

        That's a good one.

However, I have to vote for Jake Taylor's bunt and Willie Mays Hayes scoring the winning run in Major League. I always get chills (and a little misty eyed) when Harry Doyle screams "The Indians win!"

Jimmy Chitwood's jumper at the buzzer in Hoosiers. Makes it even more impressive that it was based on a true story.

I will admit I also cry when Rudy gets the sack.

The one when they make the last shot/touchdown/goal to win the game and everyone ends up hugging each other and jumping around.

Friday Night Lights because it's not the same cliche'd ending.

If I went any bigger, it would not have properly fit with my equipment, so I had to optimize. I'm okay with it, but I also know what I'm missing with those five inches. :)

The Fumblerooski (aka the "Annexation of Puerto Rico") from Little Giants.

That's definitely my second nomination, especially since what happened in the previous plays on the same possession.

                  That's 7 so far.........

Annexation of Puerto Rico and it's not close.

At least it didn't unnecessarily dramatize reality everything unlike Friday Night Lights, Remember the Titans, and every other true sports movie.

Roy Hobbs homering into the lights at the end of the Natural.

Again, guys...... final play...... not entire sports movie. Reading is Fundamental, especially if you're mental.

First thing that came to mind was Rudy. I would give FNL a close 2nd.
