hey guys I am debating whether or not to jailbreak my Iphone 3Gs and i wanted everyone's opinion thanks in advance

Probably against the TOS, I would ask a mod before posting this or just delete it altogether to be safe.

I did it, but then went back a couple weeks later. There is some cool stuff you can do, but I went back for 3 reasons; 1) The performance trade-off wasn't worth it for me; 2) OS 4.0 will do most of the stuff I relied on jailbreaking for; 3) I wasn't into the whole pirating scene, which is a big reason some people are behind jailbreaking.

If you own a IPhone or Ipod Touch, there's absolutely no reason not too. It's the best thing I've ever done.

There is no downgrade in performance unless you use some terribly created app. I don't see any reason not to. You can always restore to stock firmware if you don't like it.
