Most Overrated Movies in your opinion...

Movies that received lots of praise, hailed as "must see", and maybe even some that won awards. But when you watched them, they were "meh" at best.

I'll start:

"No Country for Old Men"------the Mrs and I fell asleep midway thru. Boring....

"Fargo"------annoying as he!!. (Yah? Yah!)

"Pulp Fiction"-----I'll probably get flamed for this, but, all my friends were crazy over this movie. Like "Scarface", they all had copies of it. When I finally saw it, I was like "meh". I'm probably the only one who didn't "get it".

"The Blair Witch Project"------Critics called it the "scariest movie" at the time. But it was just stupid, IMO.

"Mall Cop"----supposedly the funniest movie of the summer. I didn't have any moments.

I love No Country For Old Men, Fargo and Pulp Fiction but haven't seen Blair Witch.

Mall Cop is considered a bad movie by most, so I don't see how it's overrated.



I'd say The Hangover was a highly overrated recent movie. Pretty solid but people acted like it was one of the greatest comedies of al time, while I saw nothing that separated it from any other raunchy R comedies. Ken Jeong is really annoying as well.

Any Clint Eastwood movie. Don't get me wrong, they're a nice watch, but no way do they belong on the pedestal people place them.

A couple things wrong here. This was a January release and I've never heard anyone say that they liked this movie.

I know I didn't. It's for little kids and doesn't appeal to adults at all but, even then it was still a pretty bad movie just for kids to watch.

Judging by the amount of money movies make today, I'd say 99% of the movies are overrated.

There Will be Blood - More like there will be boredom. I turned it off half way through.

And the only 2 movies to ever bore me to sleep watching them...

The Others - All I could think was...hasn't this exact thing been done already?

Grave of the Fireflies - It was supposed to be the best Japanese animated movie ever. In fact I recall a comment that said "if this movie doesn't make you cry you don't have a heart" well I guess I don't have one because I fell asleep. I could see being bored to tears if you don't fall asleep first. Also to borrow a Simpsons quote "I can think of at least 2 things wrong with that title".

Avatar - It wasn't awful but nowhere near worth the hype or money it made. Very average. Had I not seen it in it's spectacular Blu-rayness I probably would've ended up hating it more instead of being distracted by all the nice shiney things.

Lord of the Rings - Just the original one,not the whole trilogy. Also incredibly boring. It was like watching people walk for 3 hours. I did enjoy the other 2 and no I don't know why I bothered watching the second when I didn't like the first.

Wall-E - Like Avatar not awful but nowhere near as spectacular as made out to be.

Pan's Labyrinth - I was severely mis-led and had been expecting something else entirely.

Rushmore - As I said in another topic,it always makes these funniest movie ever lists and I don't remember it being all that funny.

Some of you guys are whack. Every movie Buckeyes listed are great. So is no country for old men and Wall E and too much to mention. Geez guys.
