    Cleaning up a PC.

I've seen a lot of commercials for websites that claim to speed up old computers. I've got a PC that is about 7-8 years old and it runs like crap. Its got a ton of crap on it. Would any of these webites actually work? Has anyone had any personal experience with them? I've been looking at maxmyspeed.com

Your best bet, and by far the fastest way to get a good result is just to save things you want to keep to an external drive and reinstall windows, especially on a computer that is so old.

If it's 7-8 years old throw it away

Definitely time for an upgrade. But if you must, backup all the stuff you don't want to lose and reboot that old SOB.

Time for a new one. For $300-500 you'd be set for several years.

Yep and custom building one is pretty easy actually. I spent a bit more at $700 but got a gaming rig that I will have quite a while - looking at sales I just spent $200 on a single core machine that runs surprisingly well. (doesnt include HD or graphics card, but can do applications and even run 1080p movies)

It's cheaper than you'd think. (and definitely worth it )
