    ebay question.

I sold an item on ebay. How long does the buyer have to make a payment? It's been 24 hours. Wasn't sure as I usually sell things with "buy now" option and immediate payment is made for those.

    Re: ebay question.

Depends on what you specify when you create the auction. I always use the immediate payment option on my auctions.

for some reason I could not select that. Think it said that was only if you have "buy now" option. I can't remember what I choose. Will have to see if I can find out.

I usually give them three days, especially for an auction (not buy it now) as it's possible someone could put in a bid a prior to the end of the auction and then leave town for the weekend or something while the auction expires.

After that, there is an option to get ebay involved for resolution, which I think gives them another three days. And then after that, you can offer a second chance to the second highest bidder. Sucks you can't give negative feedback to buyers.

I just went through this exact thing as the person didn't pay for like 4 or 5 days (I was out of town, so it wasn't that big of a deal), but as soon as ebay got involved, I was paid within a few hours.

Unless a buyer uses the Buy It Now and you specify immediate payment, they have 7 days to complete the transaction. Giving them 3 days means nothing, Trev, they still have 7 days to pay. Only after this can you start a resolution.
