1. The phrase "worse than death" makes no sense. If something was actually "worse than death" the person experiencing it would kill themselves.

2. I would assume with his money he'll get whatever the Peruvian equivalent of protective custody is.

The phrase worse than death makes complete sense when viewed in the context I described. Death can be a release from suffering. In that light it's not a negative but a positive. And yes, many people do try to kill themselves in prison, and many succeed.

If he all kinds of money why was he trying to extort money from Natalie H. family?
Then again he is not right so who knows why he does what he does.
I have a feeling he is about out of money.
You can blow your inheritance pretty quick traveling the world playing in poker tournements.

Just because his family has money doesn't mean he does. I keep seeing people talk about his family having money but maybe, since he's trying to extort people, he does not have access to that.

Also as you said jake, it's possible he did have money but has blown it all on gambling, traveling, women, etc.

The guy is simply put, a serial killer. And not a very bright one at that.

No he had access to it.
I read when his dad died in January he was left a large sum of money.
Again not sure how much a large sum is.
And like I said a large sum would be pretty easy to blow through if you are traveling the world play in poker tournements.

I don't think his father was billionaire rich or anything, but with the Holloway case he was pretty well connected in Aruba.

There's also a difference in money between having money to slide in the US system and money to slide in Peru. In the US you need millions to get a crack team of lawyers, whereas I would think tens of thousands would be enough to bribe Peruvian prison officials for good treatment.

There will be no bribing in this case by Joran, if anything the girls well contected father will be doing the bribing and Joran will die in a prison soon.
Also I read that this case will be short and sweet. He has already confessed and Peruvian law is pretty simple. If you confess to a murder you will get 15-30 years of hard time. Which for this little bastard meens he will be killed in prison within a year. Again he will go to court and a Judge will simply decide how many years he will be in prison and again it will be between 15-30 accourding to the reports I am reading on CNN.

Today he is saying that it was some what self defense.
He says he went to get a snack at a store next to the hotel.
When he got back to the room she was on his laptop running he name through google.
Well she found all the info about N.Halloway and he freaked out and tried to get her off his cpu. He says she wouldnt give it back to him and she started hitting him. He then grabbed her by the neck and broke her neck. He is also saying he was high on pot and accourding to CNN by saying he was high and under the influence it may get his sentence reduced. Also he is going to reinact the murder in the hotel room for the Peruvian police either today or tomorrow.
Man Peru has a really messed up legal system, what I have learned:
1. They go really easy on you if you confess to the murder. (15-30 max)
2. Most murders are forced to reinact there murders at the scene after admitting to the murder.
3. Being high on alcohol or drugs is an excuse for committing crimes and will affect your jail time.
4. Alot of times the judge is not worried about the length of the sentence as they do not think you will live long in prison anyway.

Speaking of living long in prison...they did a report on Peru prisons last night on Fox news and boy is he in for a wonderful time. Here are some facts about Peru prison.

1. Each cell is 15 x 25 feet.
2. Each cell houses 30 to 35 inmates.
3. No toilet in most cells but rather a hole in the floor.
4. No A/C
5. No running water
6. Most cells have no windows and just one light bulb

Sounds like a fun way to spend the next 15 to 30 years!!

Joran is saying he is now ready to talk about Hollaway.
But he says he will only talk about her to the Aruban police in Aruba.
He realizes that he would rather go to prison in Aruba than Peru.
