That is an awesome deal.

I'll probably hold off though and just wait for the debut on the 101 Network in July. It's cool that DirecTV shows the HBO series from start to end on there; I'm in the final season of Oz (never watched it when it was on) right now.

I'm late to the show here. :o As I just started watching The Wire about a few months ago (watching on Netflix). Currently watching Season 4 so no spoiler's please. However, I must say that my OS brethren have steered me the right direction with this. For me The Wire is definitely up there with The Sopranos as the GOAT. If this deal would have been around a few months back I definitely would have jumped on it.

Yeah man, the only season I didn't care for of The Wire was season 2, omg it seemed so boring so I quit halfway through it. But I picked it back up in season 3 and watched it till the end. It was fantastic.

As for Oz - they should show that to seniors in high school and I think the crime rate in this nation would plunge by about half, if not more, LOL

This is very tempting. The thing holding me back is that I would not make time to watch again anytime soon, so I'm thinking I'd be better off waiting for blu-ray.

Doubt there will ever be a bluray set. The series was never shot in HD so that they could keep costs down.

Dont get it, the quality of these disc are awful, it's about as bad as the packaging.

Yeah, Simon has said repeatedly that there will never be a bluray or HD version of The Wire.

Dont get it, the quality of these disc are awful, it's about as bad as the packaging.

It's the best quality the show is going to have.

The Wire doesn't exactly require the 1080i with 8.753 surround sound.

I meant the quality of the actual disc, constant skipping.

If one can, get the individual seasons instead of the Complete series.

Thanks for at least giving me incentive to research it, ODogg.

And I'm also reading more on those damaged discs miget is talking about here. Now I'm very hesitant.
