Some of Panasonic's 2009 models had this happening with the black levels. That's the exception and not the rule.

Yeah that running in vivid mode 24/7 year round wrecks havoc on a tv. I know when I worked at Walmart they only gave 20% off open box or off the wall tv's, plus they didn't allow you to buy the Walmart extended warranty either because the store district manager knew damn well those tvs were jacked up.

Plus half the time when you buy off the wall, they been lost the stand to that tv a year ago and you forced to mount it on a wall. I remember that use to piss people off when I told them we don't have the stand for that tv anymore. People would say you didn't save the box ? I was like no, we don't save empty tv boxes, we need the space.

I'd seriously consider this 42" plasma (has 3 HDMI inputs, PC input which is great for hooking up to a laptop/PC, and USB input)

I have a 2010 50" LG plasma and have nothing but good things to say about it.

Just so you know, edge lit LED is not big of an improvement over traditional LCDs with the only real benefit being it's thinner. If you're spending that much coin, you probably want a LED HDTV that has local dimming (LEDs all over--not just on the edges)

                    Take a read: http://reviews.cnet.com/2795-6482_7-399.html

                    Good luck.

Thanks for the information. Interesting read. The one reason why im leaning towards the Sony TV's is due to the fact that some of their TV's will have GoogleTV built into them and will be running android in the background. Ill def. keep this in mind though. Im looking at hopefully have enough saved up by March 2011 so hopefully the technology and 3d Media is a lot better by then.
